HUW'S OFFER Disgraced Huw Edwards offering to work for charities for ‘no fee’ despite depraved child images charge
DISGRACED Huw Edwards is offering to help charities for free despite his child abuse pictures admission.
The shamed ex-BBC newsreader also says on networking site LinkedIn that he will work for not-for-profit groups.
Edwards, 63, will be sentenced on Monday having previously admitted three charges of making indecent images of children.
Charities severed ties with Edwards as a result.
His LinkedIn post offers to help with interview preparation, public speaking and political consulting and was still online yesterday.
He says: “After four decades of top-level experience in journalism, media, politics and communications I’m available for no charge to charities and not-for-profit organisations.”Underneath a photo of him interviewing ex-US President Barack Obama, he has filled in the section labelled “services”, which also shows previously listed areas of expertise including “public speaking, public relations and interview preparation”.
It is unclear when the information first appeared on his profile.
A source said: “If Huw really feels like being so charitable, perhaps he could start with the £200,000 he owes licence-fee payers.
"While charity work, obviously, is a laudable thing, this seems like a cynical ploy.Edwards was arrested in November after police seized the phone of a paedophile who shared 41 illegal images with the star via WhatsApp.
He was the BBC’s highest-paid newsreader — earning between £475,000 and £479,999 in 2023-24 — before he resigned in April.
The corporation has asked him to hand back the salary he earned after his arrest.
