A HISTORICAL device worn in the 16th century is making a modern comeback as a way to help prevent men from watching porn.
A new chastity belt is being released, but rather than women wearing it, devices such as iPhones and iPads will be subjected to torture.
The world’s first chastity belt for your phone is meant to help those who struggle with porn, or phone, addiction, according to its founders.
Chastity belts were used in the 1500s and 1600s as a way to prevent women from sexual temptation and ward off any unwanted advances.
Now, men will be protected from resisting the urge to go on pornographic websites.
The modern chastity phone belt was founded by The Coach, an app for men’s health where experts help men struggling with porn addiction, erectile dysfunction, and low testosterone.
“You lock it over your phone and give the key to someone you trust,” says Lindsay Stevens, spokesperson for The Coach.
“It protects you from temptation.”
The Coach’s chastity belt combines both metal and leather to make a lock that can be put around your phone.
The lock goes around the face of your phone and comes with adjustable leather straps so it can fit any model.
A GROWING PROBLEM
Porn addiction is a real, increasing problem in the United States.
PornHub, a website with thousands of free porn, is the fourth most viewed website in the country, falling behind Google, Facebook, and YouTube, according to FHE Health.
In one month, the website had over 2.14 billion views, which is more than Netflix, TikTok, Pinterest, and Instagram combined.
In 2023, the porn industry generated the same amount of revenue as the NCAA, totaling $1.15 billion.
Statistics from the same website note that if you were to visit one porn site a day, it would take over 84 years to visit every website.
How the phone chastity belt works
The chastity belt is made of metal and leather, so it can adjust to fit any phone. Users will lock it around the face of their phone and give the key to a trusted friend so they can resist the temptation to unlock it themselves.
A 2019 study found that 11% of men have admitted to being addicted to porn, Addiction Help reported.
Although porn addiction hasn’t been deemed as a true addiction by the American Psychiatric Association, the World Health Organization added compulsive sexual behavior as a mental disorder.
“A person can be considered addicted to porn when they can’t stop watching it, even if they want to, and when it interferes with their relationships, daily life, and health,” according to the treatment center Sandstone Care.
“They may begin to feel unhappy with their sex life and watch porn in inappropriate places, such as at work or in public.”
The Coach aims to help those who can’t go to counseling to receive help from professionals as well as learn tips to help improve their sex life.
According to its website, the app focuses on a holistic wellness approach.
“With our expert-backed approach, men can expect to see significant improvements in their health and sexual performance, fostering a supportive environment for personal growth and relationship enhancement,” the website states.
The coach subscription includes an eight-week program with four modules meant to help men gain full control of their arousal and increase their duration by 250%.
