Condoleezza Rice says Americans 'must do better' to 'lower the temperature of the political debate'

Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Americans must "repudiate violence" and "lower the temperature of the political debate" after the assassination attempt of former President Trump at his rally in Pennsylvania.

"Today, we witnessed a heinous act of violence unfold in Pennsylvania," Rice wrote on social media. "Former President Trump is in my prayers right now. We as Americans must do better — to repudiate violence, lower the temperature of the political debate, and uphold the hallmarks of a healthy democracy."
