JAIL BREAK Horror moment gunmen blast French prison van ‘with AK47s’ killing at least 2 guards to spring drugs baron dubbed The Fly
HORRIFIC footage shows the moment hooded gunmen open fire on a prison convoy killing at least two officers and freeing an inmate.
Four armed men pounced on the cop vans with guns at a tollbooth in France, springing free a drug dealer known as "The Fly".
Three more guards were seriously injured in the horrific onslaught after leaving Rouen prison.
The prisoner and gunmen are now on the run with two vehicles, one of which was found burned and abandoned earlier today.
Escapee Mohamed Amra, 30, is known to cops for drug trafficking and attempted murder.
His latest conviction was for burglary and he was being transferred from one prison to another on what was supposed to be a secret route.The career criminal, reportedly "head of a narcotics network" in France, is considered hugely dangerous.
The ambush happened near Eure, in Normandy as the van stopped at a motorway tollbooth in Incarville around 11am.
Footage online appeared to show police tending to a colleague as he lay bleeding on the floor.
It also shows two white police vans with their doors flung open as the one in front sits smashed up against a black car.The motors were lined up tightly against one another and the van has what looks like a bullet hole in its windscreen.
Shocking video taken from onboard a passing bus showed several armed gunmen brandishing what was described by cops as AK 47s.
The professional looking shooters, clad in all black with hoods and gloves, run towards the convoy as the clip turns to take in the scene.
Smoke rises from the point where the police van crashed head first into a black car.
Some reports called it a "ramming car attack".
Pools of blood cover the floor in front of the smashed vans.
French outlet BFMTV said Amra was being taken to a jail in Evreux, just over half an hour away by car.
Emergency services were later filmed around the tollbooth with a fire engine pulling up just metres away.
A local police source said they suspect three prison officers are dead.
They believe Kalashnikovs - or AK 47s - were used in the ambush.
One of the cars used in the escape, a white Audi A5, was found destroyed in Vatteville.
The other, a BMW 5 headed in the direction of Louviers and Evreux and later found burnt out near Evreux hospital.
The scene of the attack is near the town of Val de Reuil, on the A154 motorway.
A massive manhunt has been launched to track down the attackers and escaped inmate.
The police commander of Eure has activated a "plan Epervier", or Sparrowhawk plan, which puts all levels of officials on high alert.
It was last used during the search for notorious gangster and jailbreaker Redoine Faid in 2018 and in 2015 following the Charlie Hebdo attacks.
French justice minister Eric Dupond Moretti wrote on X: "A prison convoy was attacked in Eure.
"Two of our prison officers have died, three are seriously injured.
"All my thoughts are with the victims, their families and their colleagues.
"I immediately go to the crisis unit of @justice_gouv."
A local council official, Alexandre Rassaert, said: "I was frozen with horror when I learned of the real carnage that took place at the Incarville tollbooth.
"I sincerely hope that the gang of killers who carried out this bloody attack will be quickly arrested.
"All my thoughts go to the families of the service agents. penitentiary who escorted the detainees and who were killed or seriously injured during this attack which gave them no chance.
"I also think of all the prison administration guards who, every day, guard prisoners at the risk of their lives."
French president Emmanuel Macron wrote on X this afternoon: "This morning's attack, which cost the lives of prison officers, is a shock to us all.
"The Nation stands alongside the families, the injured and their colleagues.
"Everything is being done to find the perpetrators of this crime so that justice can be done in the name of the French people. We will be intractable."
