Two More Years bar collapse: Moment child pulled from rubble after Hackney pub’s upstairs floor crumbles injuring 13

THIS is the shocking moment a young boy was pulled from rubble after the upstairs of a trendy pub collapsed on punters.

Thirteen people were injured when the mezzanine at Two More Years in Hackney Wick, East London fell at 4.45pm yesterday evening.

Now video obtained by The Sun shows the terrifying aftermath of the collapse, which Met Police last night declared a major incident.

Footage shows punters who narrowly escaped the crash desperately clawing through the rubble to rescue those who weren’t so lucky.

While alarms go off people are heard crying, shouting and screaming as shocked staff run around trying to regain control of the situation.

In one heart-wrenching clip, a man is seen pulling what appears to be a child out from under the collapsed ceiling.

A man who was in the pub at the time of the collapse told The Sun: “I was at the bar and turned around to go outside when I heard this massive creaking sound.

“The next thing the whole thing just started coming down.“People started running out of the pub screaming. It was absolutely crazy.

"After the ceiling fell people were screaming and running out.

“There were people trapped under the debris. We started pulling the loose stuff off but then it started creaking again so we had to get outside as the fire brigade were on the way.”

Another man who was in the venue at the time said last night: "There was just this sort of cracking sort of noise and dust started coming down.

"Me and my friend just ran to the side and the whole thing just came down in a matter of seconds."

He said it was lucky that there were not more people sitting directly under the mezzanine floor that came down.

Last night the London Fire Brigade told how they rescued eight people who were trapped on the upper floor when it collapsed.

Commander Sacha Clement said: "They were trapped on the remaining part of the mezzanine floor and crews used a ladder to bridge between the floor and the internal staircase to get them safely out of the building.”

Out of the 13 casualties, three had potentially serious injuries, and ten more suffered minor injuries.

Four of the injured were taken to hospitals.

Speaking after crews were stood down yesterday evening, Brian Jordan, London Ambulance Service Strategic Commander, said: “We were called at 4.44pm to Roach Road, Hackney Wick, to reports that part of a building had collapsed.

“We declared a major incident and dispatched a number of resources to the scene. This included incident response officers, advanced paramedics, tactical advisors, clinical team managers, units from our hazardous area response team and several ambulances and fast response unit car crews. We also dispatched teams from London’s Air Ambulance.

“We worked closely with emergency services partners and treated 13 people. Three patients had potentially serious injuries and 10 had more minor injuries. We took four people to hospitals and major trauma centres.”
