Shocking moment thug PUNCHES England and Man City star Phil Foden's mother after the footballer was confronted backstage at Kell Brook vs Amir Khan fight

Shocking footage has emerged of Manchester City star Phil Foden's mother being punched in a backstage brawl at the Brook vs Khan fight last night.

The clip appears to show the midfielder, 21, being led into a private room at the AO Arena in Manchester after the Kell Brook v Amir Khan fight as a group of men hurl verbal abuse at him and shout 'c***' and a 'f****t'.

As the footballer enters the room, his girlfriend Rebecca Cooke turns towards the rowdy group and shouts: 'Who you calling a c***?'

Just seconds later, the footballer's mother Claire Foden emerges from the room and confronts the group saying: 'Who's calling him?' Footballer Phil Foden is led into a dressing room at a venue as a group of men hurl verbal abuse at him

Seconds later, the footballer's mother Claire Foden emerges from the dressing room and confronts the group

A member of the group responds: 'No one.'

One of the men refuses to move from the entrance to the room before he is soon pushed out of the way by Ms Foden.

He then strikes her in the face before another man dressed in a black top and cap comes to her defence and lunges towards the rowdy group.

As the brawl ensues, the footballer's mother takes swings at the group of men as a person in the background is heard shouting: 'Get away now!'

Minutes later, Phil Foden, who is wearing a blue hoodie and jeans, appears to defend his mother and is briefly involved in the altercation as the group of hecklers move further along the corridor.

The man with the black top and cap is then seen swinging a fire extinguisher at the hecklers.

A Manchester City spokesperson said: 'The club is aware of a video which has circulated on social media showing Phil Foden and his family being harassed and abused.

'We are shocked and appalled about the nature of the abuse and ensuing assault on one of Phil's family members. We will continue to give Phil and his family all the support and assistance they need.  '

The scenes come nearly a year after Ms Foden was reportedly caught up in a party brawl outside a house in Stockport, Greater Manchester, according to The Sun

Sources told the newspaper that the fight, which lasted 30 minutes, broke out after Ms Foden asked fellow reveller Katie Skitt for a cigarette but it is unclear what sparked violence.

The footballer's mother is widely credited with keeping her superstar son grounded.

She once told the Telegraph: 'He was the cheapest kid ever. Just get him a wind ball and he'd be happy.

'He didn't care about anything else. No games, no toys, nothing, just a football.'

Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden joined Man city at U9 level now, aged 21, and is considered to be one of the best young footballers in the world.

Worth around £100million, the footballer has three Premier Leagues, three Carabao Cups and a Community Shield in his medal collection.

He was an FA Youth Cup final runner-up in 2016/17 and was awarded his first England cap in September 2020.

Between 2020 and 2021, Foden was a key first team member with 50 appearances and 16 goals.

In 2021, the footballer was also voted the PFA Young Player of the Year.
