And you think YOU have trouble sleeping? Mountaineer shows how he settles down for 40 winks in tent nailed to sheer north face of El Capitan

This is the death-defying moment a mountain climber takes a break from ascending a 3,000ft sheer rock face by camping in a tent dangling from several ropes.

Siebe Vanhee, 30, was climbing on the El Capitan rock face which is in the Yosemite National Park in California late last month. The sheer rock face is one of the most challenging climbs in the world and Vanhee, who is from Belgium, used the tent as a base, midway up the stunning feature. Siebe Vanhee, 30, was climbing on the El Capitan rock face which is in the Yosemite National Park in California late last month when he pitched his tent on the vertical rock face

Climber prefer tackling El Capitan in the spring and autumn when the temperatures are lower.

Vanhee took part in his first competition in 2002 aged 11 and first attempted Yosemite aged 19 during a year-long trip to the United States.  Commenting on his climb on Instagram, Vanhee posted a photograph of him inside his tent with the message: 'We are having a little break from the wall right now. Enjoying the valley with some rest and bouldersessions! Soon we’ll get back on it for some more work sessions.'

When asked why he has a tent on the wall, he responds: 'Ascending the ropes every day to the pitches we want to work is exhausting.

'The best way to save energy is to just camp on the wall!

'And wall life is so amazing!'
