The moment cycle-thug hid in an alleyway before pouncing on a woman in her 60s and mugging her: Man is jailed for nearly four years

Sickening CCTV footage captured the moment a woman was mugged and robbed by a bike-riding thug in a town centre.

Jaroslav Gabor, 23, lay in wait for his victim, in her 60s, in an alleyway in Gravesend, Kent before pouncing on her shortly after 8pm.

The masked robber rode slowly behind the woman before snatching her handbag.

The bag appeared to get caught and he pulled it towards himself, dragging his terrified victim to the ground before fleeing the scene and leaving her writhing in agony, having suffered leg and hip injuries.

Gabor then used the woman's card to buy alcohol and cigarettes in a nearby shop.Jaroslav Gabor, 23, hid in an alleyway before pouncing on his victim, stealing her bag and wrestling her to the ground

Gabor has now been jailed for three years and nine months after he admitted robbery and fraud at Maidstone Crown Court.

Police soon identified the Gabour as the offender after extensive investigation of CCTV footage of the area led to them finding his bike.

He was arrested two days after the offence in February last year, still in possession of the victim's mobile phone.

Det Con Emma Laimbeer, of Kent Police, said: 'Gabor targeted a person he believed to be vulnerable and then violently stole her handbag, knocking the victim over in the process.

'He left the scene with no concern for his victim who suffered hip and leg injuries.

'The impact of this callous crime will remain with her for a considerable time and it is only right that Gabor has been jailed.'
