‘Attack of the killer boar!’ Walker films terrifying moment a wild boar charges at him and sinks its teeth into his leg on a German beach
This is the terrifying moment a wild boar attacked a man on a German beach.
The newly shared footage was taken by Jan Odendahl while he was walking along the chalk coastliune from Sassnitz to the Kieler Bach on the island of Rügen.
Mr Odendahl approached the boar to record a video to show his children, but he got a shock when the animal ran towards him and sank its teeth into his leg. The footage, captioned 'Attack of the killer boar', shows Mr Odendahl walking towards the boar which is wading in the sea.
As he passes the boar, it suddenly starts to charge towards him and the point-of-view footage shows the stones in close up as he falls over.
Mr Odendahl said he tried to protect himself by kicking the boar in the face and landed 'a courageous hit on the pig's mouth' but the animal managed to bite his leg.

Luckily, a passerby came to his aid and threw stones at the wild boar, driving it back to the water where it swam off.
Mr Odendahl said the bite marks were visible for a month after the attack which also left him with cuts, severe bruising on his leg and a sprained ankle.
He added: 'In the end I had to laugh about it.'
He said he believed the wild boar had tumbled down the chalk cliff and become stranded.
The terrifying ordeal occurred in in November 2020 as Mr Odendahl walked along along the beach before ascending the chalk cliffs in the Jasmund National Park.
Rügen is Germany's largest island and is home to several wild animals including boars.

The Central European boar subspecies is native to Germany, and when confronted by humans, it is known to attack.

Likewise, bizarre footage from Berlin's Zehlendorf district showed police officers blocking a street to allow a herd of more than 20 wild boars to cross.
The video, posted on Twitter by Felix Hackenbruch on May 17, 2020, was retweeted by Berlin Police who said: 'Sometimes the wilderness is right on our doorstep.'
