That will raise eyebrows! Grandmother apologises to granddaughter's school after the cheeky six-year-old drew on 'Groucho Marx' smudges on her face with a permanent marker pen

  • Louisa Jackson, 59, from Bexley, Kent, took Phoebe, six,  to school on Monday
  • She tried to take it off with wipes and baby oil but it still left smudges on her face
  • Phoebe also once coloured her face red to look like crab from The Little MermaidA grandmother has been forced to apologise to her granddaughter's school after she took a permanent marker to her face and drew on some 'Groucho Marx' eyebrows.

Louisa Jackson, 59, from Bexley, Kent, arranged to take six-year-old Phoebe Jackson to school on Monday as a favour for her daughter Amy, 30.

The gran-of-four sent the little one upstairs to brush her teeth before the 15-minute walk, but when she came downstairs, she was sporting a pair of giant Sharpie eyebrows.

Louisa spent 10 minutes trying to scrub them off with a face wipe before tackling the rest with baby oil and cotton wool.

Despite her best efforts, Phoebe still had a 'grubby' smudge on her face, so Louisa was forced to write a note explaining what had happened. She has vowed to keep permanent markers hidden away in future - after Phoebe once painted herself red in a bid to look like the crab from The Little Mermaid.

Louisa said: 'When I looked at her I just thought she looked just like Groucho Marx.

'I thought it was Amy's mascara to start with, which is easy to take off. So I just got baby wipes and wiped it and nothing happened.

'I said to Phoebe "why have you got Mummy's make up on?" and she said "it's not, it's pen". I realised it was permanent marker when it wouldn't budge.

'She just loves make-up and obviously she just decided that she wanted eyebrows that day.'

After racing against the clock to get the pen off and Phoebe to class in time, Louisa also quickly penned an explanatory note for her teacher and handed it in.

Louisa said: 'Phoebe had to go to school with a smudge on her face so I put a note in her book bag.

'I wrote "I'm sorry if Phoebe's face looks a bit grubby but she drew eyebrows on with a permanent marker and I've done my best to take it off. We'll definitely make sure permanent markers are out of her reach in future."

'As she's getting bigger she can reach more things and you don't realise what she can reach until something like this happens.'

But it's not Phoebe's first time getting creative with her colouring, having covered herself in red felt tip pen three years ago in a bid to transform herself into Sebastian from The Little Mermaid.

Louisa said: 'She said "look I'm a crab", that came off in the bath as it was ordinary children's felt tip pen.'

Sharing her permanent marker predicament on Facebook, Louisa wrote: 'Grandma fail! 'My only mission was [to] have her overnight, get her to school on time Monday morning.

'Mission complete but I have yet to tell mummy I sent her up to brush her teeth and she came down [with] permanent marker eyebrows.

'Got most of it off with wipes and baby oil but had to put a note for the teacher in her book bag as she still looks a little bit like Groucho Marx.'

Social media users were tickled by the picture and joked that they saw eyebrows like this on women on night's out.

One quipped: 'To be fair I've seen actual adults draw their eyebrows on like that and go out on a Saturday night.'

Another wrote: 'Better than some of the brows I see today.'
