    Footage shows the rescuers in the Nakhon Ratchasima province of Thailand desperately battling to get the cow out of the stinking dark sludge after it tripped and fell in on Monday. 

    Local Pranee Munkit, 45, heard strange noises coming from the back of her house so went to investigate. 

    And when she found the distressed cow she called animal rescuers for help.

    Ms Munkit said: 'I remember seeing the cow walking to the back of my house. 

    'There's grass and water there so I thought she would only eat but then I heard her cry and thought something bad must have happened.' 

    The local rescue team arrived shortly after being notified by Ms Munkit before two volunteers climbed down and tied a rope around the cow's body.

    They finally manage to haul the cow out of the cesspit and checked it for injuries but it was general healthy apart from being tired

    Finally they manage to get enough strength and find the right angle to free the cow, who just lies on her side exhausted after the ordeal. 

    The animal was checked for injuries but was pronounced generally healthy aside from being tired.

    Ms Munkit added: 'I was worried they might not be able to pull her up because she is heavy but they were able to so I am happy now.'
