Furious truck driver repeatedly smashes into van and demolishes telegraph pole in astonishing road rage rampage

    Felipe Beltran, driver of the cargo lorry, said he saw red after the smaller van clipped the front of his truck on a narrow road in Santiago, Chile, last Monday at around 7.30pm. 

    A video captured by a bystander shows the moment Beltran retaliates by ploughing his Chevrolet truck into the van with such force that three of the van's wheels are lifted off the ground. The situation then escalates as two men jump out of the van brandishing metal poles, with one thrown like a spear at the lorry cab.Beltran then reverses backwards, purposefully crashing into the van over and over again and accidentally downing a telegraph pole and a tree in the process. 

    Beltran said: 'One of my guys had a disagreement with the driver, and two guys got out brandishing giant metal poles.

    'They broke my rear view mirror and started to throw the poles at my truck, like spears.'

    The driver claimed that his explosive reaction was due to feeling threatened by the van drivers, he added: 'I was scared. They threw a metal pole at my windscreen and it almost hit me. I didn't know what to do.'

    Evelyn Matthei, mayoress of the Providencia district in Chile's capital said: 'I can't believe the madness we're living through. This is criminal conduct I can't understand.' 

    Police arrested both drivers involved.
