    1. She tracked her cycle

The first thing Sophie said she did is track her ovulation and typical menstrual cycle.

Your skin changes in response to hormones, like estrogen and testosterone, which means that acne outbreaks during the premenstrual and menstrual period are common.

Oily skin types may also notice an increase in facial oil before and during your period.

'I use an app called Clue to track my cycle,' Sophie posted on Instagram.

Clue is a smart period tracker that makes it easy to stay on track with your period, menstrual symptoms, fertility, and pregnancy.

By understanding her skin and cycle, Sophie said she knew better when to expect a breakout or flare-up and when she could attribute it to menstruation.

    2. She upped her water quantity

Water is essential for many body functions, and it can be especially good for the skin when drunk in big quantities.

'I started drinking three litres of water every day for my skin,' Sophie said.

Experts promise that within a week of drinking three litres of water daily, your skin will improve, your pores will shrink and you'll look more radiant.

    3. She reduced her stress

'A massive part of my skin journey was actually reducing my stress and removing all of the rollercoaster moments of emotional waves,' Sophie said.

For the busy trainer and mum-of-four, she said she would regularly 'pile up' her plate with too many things to do.

'Then I would feel overwhelmed and burn out,' Sophie said.

Instead of this, she stopped overdoing things, prioritised clean food and regular exercise, and didn't beat herself up if she didn't get something done in a particular time frame.

    4. She stopped drinking alcohol

Alcohol can hugely interfere with your skin, and cause breakouts and inflammation.

Sophie said she stopped drinking alcohol entirely and noticed huge benefits in her skin.

She now doesn't drink wine or other alcohol at all.

    5. She uses mineral makeup

Sophie now uses mineral makeup and said it's much better for allowing her skin to breathe.

'I use Lust Minerals,' the 31-year-old said.

The cruelty-free and vegan brand sells all sorts of products, including natural lipstick, foundation, powder and skincare.

    6. She tried laser genesis

The last thing the mum did was try laser genesis facials at a clinic near to her house.

'I used laser genesis to kill the bacteria under the skin once it had become cystic,' Sophie said.

Laser genesis is a laser device used to improve your complexion by improving your sun damage, fine lines and delaying your ageing process.

It is a comfortable, noninvasive treatment that can be used either as a monthly skin rejuvenation treatment or to target and improve redness, fine lines and wrinkles.
