'A dozen' suspects rob, destroy outdoor kitchen, Portland police say

 


PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — An outdoor kitchen set up across the street from the federal courthouse building in downtown Portland was robbed at gunpoint early Saturday morning, according to police.

Authorities said they received a report of a disturbance with a weapon around 2:30 a.m. Saturday on SW 3rd Avenue. When they arrived, they found the outdoor kitchen had been destroyed.

A man who had been working in the kitchen at the time said a group of about a dozen men walked up to him and one was armed with a shotgun, according to police. The suspects stole some of the cooking equipment and damaged other appliances, as well as the canopy covering the kitchen. They also vandalized the victim's car that was parked nearby, smashing out most of its windows.

The victim told police the suspects drove off in several cars before police were called.

Authorities have not released descriptions of the suspects or the cars they left in. Anyone with information on this robbery is asked to contact Portland Police or Crime Stoppers.
