A woman has sparked a hilarious thread of would-be gardeners sharing their failed lockdown 'crops' across Britain, after going viral with a picture of her tiny carrots.
Janet Oswald, from London, took to Facebook group Family Lockdown Tips & Ideas this week, after deciding to grow her own vegetables amid the panic buying and shortages that occurred at the start of lockdown. 
Sharing a snap of the vegetables, she joked they had cost her '£870 in woman hours, sweat and fertiliser' over the 112 days she laboured over them, racking up 50,000 likes and 5,000 comments.

Posting a picture of the carrots,  Janet wrote: 'These little blighters were in the ground for no less than 112 days, please excuse my disappointment 
'After weeks of waiting we have finally harvested our first batch of homegrown carrots! I'm so glad I've spent ALL those hours toiling over them. 
'Because instead of wasting 38p for a whole bag of the bloody things, we've managed to grow these...costing us roughly £870 in woman hours, blood, sweat, tears, fertiliser, compost and water'.

Sharing their advice, one user suggested: 'Leave them longer they'll get there'. 
'Guessing not enough spacing between them', another said, and agreeing, one added: 'Picked them far too early! Need to be spaced apart too so they have space to grow!'.
Many more admitted they could relate, adding: 'I think I will be finding the same when I eventually harvest my carrots. Attached is a picture of my harvest so far. One single radish.'
