in India updates: India has recorded its biggest single-day spike in coronavirus-positive cases, of more than 6,654, according to data compiled by Worldometer. The total number of cases in the country has reached 125,149, and as many as 3,726 people have died from the disease so far.

Projecting a contraction in growth for the current fiscal, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Friday announced a further cut of 40 basis points each in repo and reverse repo rates, even as it warned that inflation, particularly in food, was on the rise again. The government, meanwhile, has expanded its advisory on the use of HCQ on asymptomatic healthcare and frontline workers deployed in non-Covid and Covid areas.

With 83 more people testing positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours in Indore, the overall COVID-19 case count in the worst-hit district in Madhya Pradesh has climbed to 2,933, an official said on Saturday.
The death toll in the district rose to 111 after samples of a 40-year-old deceased tested positive, said Indore's chief medical and health officer Praveeen

Govt transfers over Rs 19,000 cr to 95.5 mn farmers under PM-KISAN scheme

Union agriculture ministry on Friday said that the Centre had released Rs 19,100.77 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme during the lockdown period since March 24, and that around 95.5 million farmer families had benefitted from the scheme so far.

India’s daily increase in total cases of 6,654, is its all-time single-day high. Its total tally has jumped from 118,447 to 125,101, an increase of 5.6%. Net increase of 137 in deaths has taken the country’s death toll to 3,720.
India’s 5-day moving average of daily rate of addition to total cases is unchanged at 5.4%.
