GREGGS has revealed a menu shakeup with six new items - including one returning favourite.
The bakery chain has unveiled a series of items which are coming to its shops in time for the sunny weather this summer.
Chicken pesto flatbread
The first fresh item coming to the menu is the flatbread.
Greggs describes the item as consisting of "pesto style chicken mayonnaise" and salad, along with slow-roasted tomato wedges in a garlic and oregano marinade.
The ensemble is wrapped in a flatbread.
"All the flavours of Italy; no paying extra for hand baggage, no fighting for an arm rest, no terrible leg room," a bakery spokeman says.
Spicy Mexican bean flatbread
The second flatbread in the series, this item contains mixed beans in a "Mexican style sauce".
Peppers, sweetcorn, and jalapenos covered with Chipotle chilli mayonnaise make up the innards of the wrap.
It is described by the chain as being "The best amigo for your rumbling stomach".
Cherry bakewell muffin
The first sweet treat to feature among the new items, the cherry bakewell muffin is a synthesis of two British icons.A "soft and fluffy" muffin with sour cherry flavoured pieces is filled with cherry jam and covered with white fondant.
"There’s also a glacé cherry on top for a bit of ‘je ne sais quoi’," Greggs says.
Apple & strawberry fruit pot
A simple pot of apple pieces and strawberries.
"For you to enjoy whenever you please," Greggs says.
Vegan Mexican chicken-free bake
Making its return, this item sees vegan chicken-free pieces mixed with vegetables and spicy "Mexican style" tomato sauce.
The ingredients are "packed into a deliciously crispy pastry case" topped with a seasoned crumb coating.
"It's back, and it's just as tasty," Greggs says.
Vegetable bake
This item is filled with a "delicious mix" of vegetables in a creamy sauce made with Cheddar cheese and chillies.
"Lovingly wrapped in our classic flakey, golden puff pastry... a true taste sensation," Greggs says.
Strawberries & Cream refresher
Temperatures are rising and iced drinks are making their comeback as Greggs introduces a new strawberry and cream refresher.
The refreshing drink is made with semi-skimmed milk, strawberry syrup and topped with cream and strawberry sauce.
"Super tasty and totally photo-worthy," Greggs says.
But the new treats came at a price after a popular menu staple from vegan offering had to be axed to make way for new snacks.
The bakery chain has left fans fuming after it removed the vegan steak bake from its selection in a bid to expand its vegan range.
A spokesperson told The Sun: "Our Vegan Steak Bake will be taking a break from the menu to make way for a tasty vegan favourite, which will be launching next week."
The new summer menu is already available at all Greggs stores nationwide.
