A BOY was playing at home with his brother when he vanished before being pulled from the River Thames.

The Metropolitan Police launched an appeal on Friday to locate five-year-old Daniel Alaby.

The young boy had gone missing from his home in Thamesmead, south-east London, at 5.30pm.

Cops said little Daniel was last seen wearing a purple top.

Officers searching for Daniel discovered a child in the river at around 6.23pm.

Police administered CPR until paramedics from the London Ambulance Service arrived.Despite the best efforts of emergency responders, Daniel was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Daniel's family are currently receiving support from police officers.

The Met have stated that there is no evidence to suggest the involvement of any other individual in Daniel's passing.

But investigations into the circumstances surrounding his disappearance and subsequent discovery in the river are ongoing.Authorities urge anyone who may have seen Daniel on Friday to come forward with any information that may assist in the investigation.

Those with potential leads are encouraged to contact the police at 101 or share details via social media platforms using the handle @MetCC and referencing incident number 4592/29MAR24.

An outpouring of support and condolences have flooded in for his family and loved ones from the local community.

A Met Police spokesperson said: "Police issued an appeal on Friday, 29 March, to locate a missing boy, Daniel Alaby.

"At 18:23hrs that evening officers looking for Daniel found a child in the River Thames.

"Officers pulled the child from the water and administered CPR prior to the arrival of LAS.

"The child, who is believed to be Daniel, was taken to hospital in a critical condition.

"He was pronounced dead at hospital later that evening.

"Daniel's family have been made aware. They are being supported by police officers.

"Enquiries are under way to establish the circumstances of the incident.

"Anyone who may have seen Daniel on Friday evening is asked to call police on 101 or post @MetCC ref 4592/29MAR24."At this very early stage, there is no evidence to suggest that any other person was involved.

"Enquiries continue to establish the circumstances."
