ROYAL RETURN Key sign Kate Middleton is ‘doing her best to return to work and duties’ as soon as possible, claims royal expert

KATE Middleton is still recovering from her abdominal surgery but is “doing her best to return to work” as soon as possible, according to a royal expert.

Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine, claimed there is a key sign that the Princess of Wales is thinking ahead to her return.

Speaking to Fabulous, Ingrid claimed that Kate hiring a new private secretary shows she is planning for the future.

She said: “The Princess is obviously doing her best behind the scenes to get fit and healthy so she is ready to face the publicity which will surround her return to public engagements after Easter.

“She has hired a new private secretary in the shape of dashing former equerry to the late queen, Lieutenant Colonel Tom White.

“He will be helping move forward her pet project to get big business to help support the early childhood she considers so important.

We shared how Tom is filling a vacant role, as Kate hasn’t had a private secretary for over a year.

When photos of Kate's dashing new private secretary circulated online, royal fans gushed that he bears a striking resemblance to tennis legend Roger Federer.

This comes as Prince William's team has responded to the many health conspiracy theories swirling around Princess Kate.

“His focus is on his work and not on social media,” a spokesman for the Prince of Wales told People on Wednesday.

Ingrid added that the Princess of Wales is “no slouch” and although she is taking time off to privately recover, she will still have been thinking about her charities.

She added: “She had no intention of allowing her dreams of helping young children to suffer just because she was in recovery after her abdominal operation.

“Kate is distraught she has had to cancel so many things since her operation and is determined she will soon be back in control better than ever.”

Earlier this week, mum-of-three Kate was seen for the first time since her hospital operation.

The Princess of Wales was in the passenger seat as mum Carole, 69, drove her in an Audi near Windsor Castle on Monday.

She was wearing sunglasses and appeared to be smiling slightly in her first sighting since her abdominal operation.

It comes after social media was flooded with rumours about Kate's health.

What does a royal private secretary do?

A royal family member's private secretary is similar to their chief of staff.

It's their role to ensure the royal's day runs smoothly, and duties can include anything from coordinating royal engagements to briefing on meetings.

You can often see private secretaries when royals do a public walkaway, as they are usually standing a few feet away - often to carry photos or gifts given by well-wishes.

Unfounded online speculation occured when Prince William unexpectedly pulled out of a memorial service last week where he was expected to give a reading

Kate, 42, underwent the “planned major abdominal surgery” in January at the London clinic.

The central London private hospital also treated The King while he underwent treatment for an enlarged prostate.

Kensington Palace said at the time Kate was unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter.

At the time, the mum-of-three apologised for postponing her Royal engagements following the surgery which was not cancer-linked.

The statement read: "The Princess of Wales wishes to apologise to all those concerned for the fact that she has to postpone her upcoming engagements.

"She looks forward to reinstating as many as possible, as soon as possible."

The palace previously said the public "will understand her desire to maintain as much normality for her children as possible".

Earlier this week, the Ministry of Defence had to backtrack after releasing tickets claiming Kate would review a dress rehearsal at Horse Guards Parade for the Trooping of the Colour on June 8.

It has since been revealed that the MoD put tickets, which are now sold out, for Kate's event online before consulting Kensington Palace. The Army is now set to remove the claim that the Princess of Wales will attend, it's understood.

This means her attendance at the event has not been signed off officially, sparking confusion for thousands of Brits hoping to attend.
