Liz Cheney Suggests She May Enter 2024 Presidential Race

Former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) suggested during an interview over the weekend that she may still enter the 2024 presidential election, even though the process is already well underway.

Cheney made the remarks during a Sunday CNN interview with Jake Tapper on “State of the Union” while discussing the state of the election.

“I haven’t endorsed anybody in this presidential race, certainly would never support Donald Trump,” she said. “And we know what Donald Trump will do, because he’s telling us every day. And anybody who has spent any time overseas, who has spent any time studying the history of autocracies and of autocrats knows we have to listen to what Donald Trump’s saying.”

Tapper responded by asking: “Are you still considering it, or would you rule it out?”

“I haven’t made any decisions about it yet,” Cheney responded. “I’m going to do whatever is necessary to defeat Donald Trump.”

Tapper asked if Cheney would endorse Biden over Trump.

“I’m not going to make any announcements or endorsements this morning,” Cheney responded. “But the most important thing is to defeat Donald Trump, and I will do whatever, whatever it takes to do that.”

Cheney said that it’s not “a hard call at all” to say that she supports former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley over Trump in the Republican Party primary.
