Halle Berry To Pay $8K In Child Support After Finalizing Divorce Almost 8 Years Later
Superstar Halle Berry has agreed to pay $8,000 in child support to ex-husband Olivier Martinez now that the former couple has finalized their divorce. The proceedings took nearly 8 years due to the details of custody of their 9-year-old son Maceo.
The 57-year-old actress and Martinez have finalized their divorce with both sharing joint custody and Berry providing not only thousands of dollars in child support but also “4.3% of any income she receives above $2,000,000″ in additional support,” according to documents obtained by People magazine.
The “Moonfall” star must also cover the tuition for her son’s private school, including supplies, uniforms, and any extracurricular activities for the 2023/2024 school year, the outlet noted.
It comes after the “X-Men” star and her ex-husband made a joint announcement to the outlet in October 2015 that after two years of marriage, they were calling it quits. Berry and Martinez wed in 2013 and welcomed son Maceo into the world later that year, Yahoo.com noted.
“It is with a heavy heart that we have come to the decision to divorce,” their joint statement read. “We move forward with love and respect for one another and the shared focus of what is best for our son.”
“We wish each other nothing but happiness in life and we hope that you respect our and, most importantly, our children’s privacy as we go through this difficult period,” the statement added.
A year later, a judge ruled that the pair were officially single. However, the matter of custody and support had yet to be determined.
Since then, the superstar actress has been linked with current partner Van Hunt. Speaking to Women’s Health magazine in 2021, Berry said her relationship with Hunt made her a better mother. She’s also mom to 15-year-old daughter Nahla Ariela, 15, with ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry.
“I just feel fulfilled. I feel happy in my life romantically, as a mother, as an artist,” Berry told the outlet. “I’m a much better mother in this circumstance than I would have been had I stayed in a romantic relationship that didn’t serve me and didn’t make me feel the way I need to feel as a woman.”
“I’m reminded that we always have to take care of ourselves first, because I can’t be a good mother for my children if I’m not fundamentally happy and feeling good about myself,” she added.
