'Emergency responders sent to the scene carried out basic and advanced recovery techniques without success and the man was pronounced dead.'

Playa Blanca where the tragedy occurred, is described online as a safe swimming area because of two man-made breakwaters constructed with rocks which stretch out into the sea from either side of the wide golden sand beach.

It is one of Playa Blanca’s three beaches. One recent visitor from the UK described it as a 'great family beach.'
