Waddle a cute pair! This Morning viewers swoon over gay penguin couple who have been in love for seven years - after one was 'dumped by his male ex for a female'

A couple of gay penguins who have been in a monogamous relationship for seven years stole the show on today's This Morning.

Ferrari and Pringle, the two Humboldt penguins, paid Dermot O'Leary and Alison Hammond a visit on today's Valentine's Day-themed show. The couple, who live near Chipping Norton, even 'got married' in 2020.

The pair, who are currently staying at the Heythrop Zoological Gardens in the Costwolds, were seen flapping around the set eating fish and charmed viewers with their happy demeanour.

Ferrari and Pringle made a grand entrance on the show, with 'I Will Always Love You' by Whitney Houston blasting in the background.

The happy pair strutted on the set as Dr Scott tried to guide them to the couch with fish.

The show's veterinarian explained that 90 per cent of birds are thought to be monogamous, compared to three to five per cent of mammals.

He added that Humboldt penguins are known for their parenting skills and 'do stay together for the kids'.

But the love story between Ferrari and Pringle had had more twists and turns than a Hollywood romcom.

'Ferrari is the shorter one and Pringle is the taller one,' he said.

'Ferrari was actually with his previous partner, called Charlie, who is also a male,

'Charlie then decided that he preferred female penguins, and then joined up with a female penguin.'
