Struggle of the purr-letariat! Homeless cat with alarming likeness to LENIN is looking for private ownership

A black and white cat who resembles Communist revolutionary Vladimir Lenin due to a distinctive goatee pattern in her fur is now looking for a new home after being abandoned.

Three-year-old Pavlova, a former stray, was taken in by the RSPCA's Middlesex North West and South Hertfordshire branch in January. A family had been feeding her and had even made her a wooden box shelter to sleep in over Christmas - but handed her in to the charity at the end of last month after realising she had been abandoned by their neighbours.

Pavlova would spend 'hours' in the family's garden and was 'so hungry that she licked the plate clean' when they went out to feed her, the RSPCA said.

Charity workers now say the mustachioed moggy would be best suited to a 'quiet, adult-only home without other pets', ideally with some outside space for her to explore.

They are hoping Pavlova's striking 'moustache' - which appears similar in style to the goatee sported by Bolshevik politician Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov, better known as 'Lenin' - will help give her an edge in landing a forever home.

Resemblance: Vladimir Lenin. The comparison to the former Soviet leader is not simply one of appearance either, as Pavlova is known to be quite 'nervous' and will 'hiss' at charity workers - perhaps comparable to Lenin, who was known for his fiery temper and who suffered a number of strokes, possibly due to the pressure of attempting to reform Tsarist Russia into a socialist paradise

Branch animal welfare officer, Tracy Deamer, said of Pavolva: 'She was very timid when she arrived and it's taking her some time to get used to us and the cattery.

'She is a really beautiful cat but does need a specific home with owners who have taken care of frightened cats before.

'Pavlova is very striking and has the most beautiful black and white coat, with gorgeous markings and the most incredible mouse-tache and goat-ee!SHARE THIS ARTICLE

'We hope her beautiful face will help her bag a wonderful fur-ever home!'

Pavlova seems to like other cats but is ideally looking for a quiet, adult-only home without other pets.

Ms Deamer said: 'She needs a quiet home as she is very nervous and sometimes hisses at us when we approach

'We really want this gorgeous girl to get the chance she deserves and, with time, we hope she'll grow in confidence and become a wonderful companion for someone who is happy to give her the time and space she needs.'

'Pavlova was so hungry at this point that she licked the plate clean,' the RSPCA said in a Facebook update. 'From that day she also started to sleep in a wooden box that was in the garden.'
