Sssssmooth operators! Amazing moment frogs, mice, and a beetle hitch a ride through Queensland floodwaters on the back of a snake

 A snake, frog, and pair of mice put on the ultimate display of teamwork to escape floodwater.

The smaller animals hitched a ride on the large black snake while trapped in a Queensland rainwater tank that was flooded after heavy rainfall.Videos captured their desperate attempt to escape, along with several other frogs that tried to hop their way out of the tank.

Rescuers tried using a long yellow pole to help the frogs but only agitated the water and caused the snake to begin swimming laps of the tank.

In the commotion, one of the mice was thrown from the snake and rescued by onlookers while the remaining mouse and frog held on.

The poster of the video confirmed all the animals were eventually safely rescued from the tank.

Commenters were amazed by the unlikely teamwork.

'When times get tough Aussie’s help each other out,' one user wrote.

'The most Australian thing I’ve seen today,' another added. 

'I feel like the snake actually cares for them,' a third commented.

Southeast Queensland has been subject to severe widespread flash flooding since Friday after several days of heavy rainfall.

The Bureau of Meteorology has predicted flooding will ease in coming days as storm systems begin to move south through the Gold Coast overnight on Sunday.
