Shocking moment woman, 30, poured stolen petrol around a family home that had two young children inside before trying to set it alight

 Horrifying CCTV footage shows the moment a woman doused the front of a house, that had two young children inside, with petrol before trying to set it ablaze. 

Talisa Windsor, 30, was jailed after she was caught pouring nearly four litres of petrol that she had stolen from a nearby Texaco fuel station around the front door of a family home in Hove, East Sussex.Winsdor threw a brick through the front window of the house before hurling a homemade petrol bomb filled with fuel and tissue at the door.

Prosecutors admitted it was a miracle the flammable concoction didn't ignite and set the house ablaze.

It was also revealed that Windsor had sent death threats to the occupants of the home in the days leading up to the attack, in what was described as an 'extremely disturbing incident' by police. 

Despite the near miss, Windsor was convicted of attempted arson reckless as to whether it endangered life. She was sentenced to six years behind bars with a further three years on an extended licence.

During the hearing at Chichester Crown Court, a judge heard that during the incident, which took place on May 11 last year, the 30-year-old threw a bottle through a front window of the house in Moyne Close, Hove. 

The shocking CCTV clip begins with a seemingly innocuous Windsor filling up a jerry can with petrol.

She then leaves the forecourt without paying before the footage switches to her dousing the front of the property with petrol.

Windsor, who is wearing a matching grey tracksuit, takes a step back and is seen holding what appears to be a crudely made petrol bomb, packed with fuel and bundled together with some tissue.

Before leaving, Windsor also can be seen throwing the lighter at the property before moving to the side of the house for a better angle to throw her flammable projectile inside.

Police rushed over to the scene after members of the public reported a strong smell of petrol and Winsdor was filmed filling up a bottle with petrol at a nearby fuel station. 

Commenting on the case, Investigating officer DC Rose Horan said: 'This was an extremely disturbing incident which threatened the lives of a family with two young children, who were inside the house when Talisa Windsor attempted to set it alight.

'CCTV showed that the cigarette lighter did ignite, so it was extremely lucky that the 3.7L of petrol around the front door did not go up in flames. Had that happened, we could have been looking at a tragic outcome.

'Nonetheless, his Honour Judge Trimmer found Windsor met the criteria for a dangerous offender and passed an extended sentence.

'I would like to thank the victims, witnesses and everybody who supported the investigation for their help in bringing a dangerous individual to justice.'
