We bought our house because of its lush garden views… but instead it’s become an industrial waste dump & we’re furious

A FAMILY bought their house because of its lush garden views - but three years later they are looking out to a gloomy wasteland.

Craig Etherton and Kerry Haynes feel betrayed by Taylor Wimpey developers after moving into their Loddon Park home in Woodley, Berkshire, in December 2018.

The couple were shown a model of the vacant land beside their home and told a luscious green space would be built with paths, walkways and benches.

Instead, the site has been "abandoned" - and there's no sign of when the developers will be back to make good on their promise.

The mother-of-one says the garden next door was one of the factors that helped them decide to buy with a young child who could play outside.

Now when they look out their kitchen window, they just see a fence bordering a lot with heaped dirt, gravel and left over building materials.

Kerry said: "They've sold us a dream and it hasn't been fulfilled."

The neighbourhood feels the priority was to build the houses - and now they've all sold, the developers have moved on.There are also potholes, kerbs in disrepair and no traffic calming measures, she explained.

Kerry said: "Like all of the other residents around were really frustrated and disappointed in Taylor Wimpey that such a huge housing developer here in the UK would leave the site like this."

She regularly calls for updates, however feels brushed off and isn't sure if the work is planned to still go ahead or not.

A Taylor Wimpey spokesperson said an update will be sent to residents in the coming weeks with plans for the spaces they are still in ownership of and yet to complete.

They said: "We understand the concerns raised by residents at our Loddon Park development and we would like to assure residents that we are committed to the completion of outstanding works at the earliest opportunity.

"Whilst some areas of land have already been handed over to the management company, we will provide residents with an update on our plans for the spaces which are still in our ownership in the coming weeks.

"We are continuing to work closely with Wokingham Borough Council to ensure that works are completed and the roads can be adopted. We also hope that traffic calming measures will be implemented within the next six months."

Issues acquiring materials and recent bad weather were reasons cited for the delay over the past three years.
