'Poor puppy': Woman's attempt to dye her dog bright red goes terribly wrong - making a huge mess in her bathroom and sparking a debate about whether it's safe to color pets' fur

A woman's attempt to dye her dog bright red went terribly wrong — making a huge mess in her bathroom and staining the walls, floor, and bathtub.

Her actions also fueled debate on TikTok about whether or not it's cruel to color a pet's fur.

Isa Beastly, a designer and hairstylist, said she saw other people dyeing their dogs' fur on the app, so she decided to try it herself — a decision she's soon come to regret.

She mixed orange and pink dye together hoping to turn her small, wire-haired terrier red, but instead turned animal bright pink and left blotches of dye all over her bathroom.

She shared the fiasco on TikTok and it quickly vent viral — but while some found the clip funny, other commenters are horrified by what she did to the 'poor puppy.'

'I saw some girl dye her dog on TikTok and I been wanting to dye my dog for a while,' she explained in the clip.

She then turned the camera to show her entire bathroom covered in pink and orange dye, as she attempted to clean it.

'Omg my landlord is going to take my deposit. Help me!' she added.

While the video seemed to be meant to spotlight the mess, most commenters were fixated on her decision to dye her dog in the first place.

Several commenters ridiculed Isa for attempting to dye her dog, calling it 'unsafe' and 'mean.'

'Poor puppy,' one person wrote. Another added, 'So mean to do that to a dog.'

'There's literally nothing wrong with this,' a different user fired back.

Another added: 'You know there's hair dye that's safe for pets right? Like, a lot of people do it.'

In another clip, Isa shared the final outcome — revealing that in the end, the dog was left with patches of red and orange all over its body.

'It turned out cute,' someone gushed. Another said, 'Adorable.'

There are numerous dog-safe hair dyes for sale on the internet; however, Rover.com recommends having a professional dye your pup.

'Don’t really know why you’re doing? Don’t risk it — get a well-respected, responsible professional groomer to dye your dog’s locks for you,' the dog company wrote.

It also reminds pet-owners to keep the dye away from the dog's eyes and mouth and to never use human hair-dye on an animal.

'Do not use products made for humans. This cannot be stressed enough,' the website reads.

'Human hair dyes contain hydrogen peroxide or bleach to lift the natural color. Both chemicals are extremely harsh and can cause chemical burns, sores and dog hair shedding.'
