Moment elevator suddenly plummets down the shaft moments after Chinese factory worker steps out of it
A factory worker had a lucky escape when an elevator plunged to the ground just moments after he stepped out of it.
Footage captured in the city of Taizhou, in the Zhejiang Province of China, shows the worker drag goods onto the freight elevator on January 8.
But as he steps out, the elevator plummets down the shaft and the startled worker quickly steps away from the lift doors.

The worker leaves the goods inside the elevator and steps out just moments later
As the shaken worker walks away, he spots his colleagues and speaks with them before they all approach the elevator shaft and look down.
The elevator is no longer being used and the incident is being investigated, according to local reports.
The employee was not injured during the incident.
In 2019, footage captured in Hefei, eastern China showed the moment a toddler became trapped dangling upside down after a faulty elevator suddenly shot upwards.

The 19-month-old boy was strapped to the back of his mother's bike, which was being wheeled out, when the elevator began to rise.
Footage showed the mother tumbling outside the car while her bike continued to rise without her.
But its journey up was brought to a sharp stop as the frame of the bike, which was jutting out of the lift, hit the concrete rim of the shaft, pinning the child's baby seat.
Firefighters soon arrived to the scene and used a large pair of pliers and an angle grinder to cut the toddler free.

And in 2017, a worker plummeted down a lift shaft after stepping into a faulty elevator while he was at work in southeast China.
The delivery driver had been transporting goods from the ground floor to the fifth floor in an industrial building in Lo Wu, Shenzhen, when the elevator plunged to the ground, according to Southern Metropolis Daily.
The worker suffered serious brain injuries and was also found to have cuts and wounds all over his body.
