Tennessee man is left naked in the ocean after his family bought him a pair of DISSOLVABLE swim trunks for their beach trip - but commenters insist the prank is CRUEL, not funny

A Tennessee man was left naked and helpless after his family bought him a pair of dissolvable swim trunks that disintegrated while he was in the ocean — but the viral prank has left many viewers shaking their heads.

Dara Roberts told her brother Seth that she had purchased the swimsuit for him at Goodwill, and he gratefully wore it for a family beach outing last month.

But while Seth tossed around a football with family in the ocean, he realized something was wrong as the trunks melted and fell apart in the water.

The Roberts family clearly found the whole thing hilarious — but many TikTok viewers think otherwise, and are calling the prank 'messed up,' 'humiliating,' and 'cruel.'

Dara shared the video on November 29, writing: 'We bought my brother dissolvable swimming trunks for our fam beach trip.'

An unsuspecting Seth is seen wearing the trunks inside. Still dry, they're completely intact, and he appears unsuspecting that he is in for a prank.

'Told him I found them brand new at Goodwill,' Dara added.

Seth and three other men were soon outside in the sand, racing together into the water.

They then spent some time tossing a football around when Dara captured Seth looking down in concern.

He appears to have realized something is wrong and is grabbing at the shorts underwater.

'My swimming trunks ripped... bad,' he says.

He insists that someone has to go back to where they are staying and get him a fresh swimsuit because 'I'm naked, dude.'

His family, still pranking him, says he can just get out of the water and grab a towel, while a concerned Seth shakes his head.

Dara later assured viewers in the comments that they did get Seth another pair of swim trunks, but they 'just had to leave him out there worried as long as we could.'

The whole family appears to have found the pranks quite funny, and it has captured the attention of 28.6 million viewers on TikTok.

But commenters don't quite see the humor.

'If the roles were swapped, all the girls would be defending the girl. No one would be laughing. What makes this more acceptable?' asked one.

'Nah this ain't funny, just really cruel,' wrote another. 'A big loss of trust.'

'This is not even doing sibling stuff, that's just mean. You could've gotten him arrested for public indecency,' said a third.

'Something about this don't sit right with me,' said one more, while yet another added: 'Kinda messed up honestly.'

Several pointed out that it was particularly bad because it was in a public place.

'Bro there's little kids int hat water with goggles on possibly, how messed up do you really have to be. At home, funny. Public, not,' wrote one.

'I like these when they are in a private pool in their backyard. Those are harmless and funny. This is humiliating,' wrote another.

'You literally made him commit a crime. There's kids nearby,' said one more.

However, Dara has since responded to commenters, saying that her brother ended up laughing at the prank.

'My brother's doing great. He thought the video was hilarious. He actually thought it was more funny than any of us thought,' she said.

She also chastised trolls who left cruel, bullying comments, including such horrific ones as 'go kill yourself' and that they hope her future partner beats her.

'I would not even say this s*** to my worst enemy, and y'all are on here saying it to strangers on TiKTok.

'So before we decided to say something really s****y that might really hurt someone, why don't we just take a split second to think whether it's worth it.

'Be nice. Be a little bit nicer,' she said.
