Sliding into next week! Idaho driver in a four-wheel drive skids into ditch TWICE but corrects steering and carries on!

This is the amazing moment a motorist loses control of their car on a snowy road but is able to recover despite skidding into a roadside ditch twice.

The footage, shot on the dashcam of a following car, shows the Subaru driver lose control of their Outback estate after turning onto the I-90 in Post Falls, Idaho on Monday.

The Subaru drives onto some snow at the edge of the carriageway, dramatically reducing the amount of grip available, sending it hurtling towards a roadside ditch. The Subaru Outlander was turning left from Hwy-41 onto the I-90 in Post Falls Idaho

Despite having permanent four-wheel drive similar to the one in the all-conquering World Rally Championship Subaru Impreza, the car spins off the road.

The motorist gets into trouble after turning left from Hwy-41 onto the I-90.

The back of the car loses traction sending the vehicle hurtling onto the grass and the back of the vehicle dips into the ditch.

Luckily for the driver, the car's four-wheel drive system allowed it to return to the carriage way.

However, once back on the road, the driver turns the steering wheel too quickly and again loses control of the car and again drives off the carriageway down into the gully beside the road.

Again the car is able to drive on the snow-covered grass and return to the carriageway without any further incident.

A witness who filmed the drama said: 'It was the first real snowfall in Post Falls Idaho.

'I was traveling south on Hwy-41 and turning onto the I-90 on-ramp when the vehicle in front of me swerved into the ditch two times before correcting itself and getting onto the freeway.'

One viewer wrote: 'Both the car's ability to pull itself out of the ditch twice and the driver's inability to learn are equally impressive, but in different ways.'

Another said: 'The Subaru getting the guy out of the ditch will just convincing him that AWD (all-wheel drive) balances about against his improper tires.'

A third person added: 'It pays to spend money on good tires. Your life could depend on it.'
