Moment mother and two children dodge speeding train after their motorbike gets stuck on tracks in Indonesia

This is the moment a mother and her two children narrowly avoided being hit by a train after their motorcycle got stuck on a railway crossing.

Dramatic CCTV footage shows the family trying to ride the bike over the tracks in Lumajang Regency in the province of East Java, Indonesia on December 9.

As they spot an approaching train, they leap off and frantically try to pull the bike backwards off the line.

But they are forced to abandon motorbike moments before the train smashes into it and shunts it along the line. The family try to make their way across the rails on a motorcycle before getting stuck in Lumajang Regency in the province of East Java, Indonesia on December 9

In the clip, the mother and children can be seen driving up to the metal tracks before they get stuck in the crossing.

They try to make their way across, but the bike appears to get stuck as she tries to get the front wheel over the far rail.

As the three appear to spot the oncoming train, the children leap off and the young boy run over to the side.

The mother stays, trying to drag the bike which has fallen over, off the tracks as her daughter runs over to help.

Inspector Mohammed Lestari said: 'The mother was very lucky especially because she had children with her when the accident happened.

'We have interviewed her and we do not believe she did anything wrong. She was very shaken by the accident.

'The relevant authorities are now inspecting the crossing to assess how it can be made safer.'Earlier this year in March, a motorcyclist was almost struck by a speeding train at a level crossing in West Java, Indonesia.

Footage of the incident shows the motorbike cross the tracks moments before the train rumbles into shot.

The train driver was forced to blow his horn to warn the motorcyclist, who seemed unaware of it.

Muhlis Jajang of the Indonesian Railroad Lover’s Facebook group posted the footage as a warning to other railway users. He wrote: ‘Don’t copy it.’
