Get me out of here! Incredible moment newborn twin PUNCHES her way out of amniotic sac moments after her sister is delivered

This is the incredible moment a newborn twin punches her way out of an amniotic sac just moments after her sister was delivered.

The baby girl, who has been named Elis, was born still inside the intact sac but she managed to break through with her tiny hand.

Mother Rosangela Maria Sousa Soares described the moment at the maternity hospital in the city of Goiania, central Brazil, as 'magical'.  The baby girl, who has been named Elis, was born still inside the intact amniotic sac (pictured)

Rosangela, who is from the nearby town of Crixas, have gave birth to identical twins Isis and Elis via a caesarian.

Isis came out first, followed by Elis, who was born still inside an intact amniotic sac, which she was then filmed breaking with her tiny hand.

The healthy girls were born at 36 weeks on November 26 weighing 4lbs 14 oz and 5lbs and 1 oz respectively.

The newborns did not require incubation, and both the mother and twins were able to return home two days after the birth.

Rosangela is married and the couple has two other children - a daughter, who is the eldest child, and a son.

'En caul' births, where the baby is born still inside an intact amniotic sac, are rare - occurring in less than one in 80,000 births, according to a Case Reports in Obstetrics and Gynecology study.

En caul births are not considered to be risky to either the mother or the baby. They are believed to be less common during caesarean section because the scalpel typically punctures the amniotic sac.

In most births, the amniotic sac, which is filled with amniotic fluid - a light yellow liquid that protects the baby and keeps it warm - breaks when the baby is about to be born.

WHAT IS AN EN CAUL BIRTH?

Being born 'en caul' means a portion of the amniotic sac or membrane remains on the baby's head at birth.

It affects less than one-in-100,000 newborns.

A caul is a thin, filmy membrane that may be attached to the head, face and ears or could drape over the head and cover part of the torso.

The caul is harmless and can be removed by healthcare professionals by peeling it back from the skin.

Incisions must be made at the nostrils to allow the baby to breathe.

The loops can then be carefully removed from behind the baby's ears.

In folklore, children born en caul are said to possess supernatural abilities and be destined for greatness.
