Winning streak! Cambridge University students strip off for racy calendar with nothing but athletic equipment to cover their modesty to raise money for mental health charity

Athletes from Cambridge University have stripped naked to pose for their 2021 calendar.

The cheeky pictures are part of an annual tradition at the top University, which this year saw 78 students from 12 teams bare all and pose in the city's world famous sites completely nude.

Stars from the netball, gymnastics and American football teams were among the students that used equipment from their sports to cover up their private parts - sometimes with just inches to spare.

Another has five flexible athletes doing handstands and the splits - with a single daisy covering one female student's breast.Photographer Andrew Wilkinson said that it took fine margins to arrange each picture.

'There was a lot of finessing the poses - like "that's got to go up slightly" or "you've just moved half an inch"

'We used their sports equipment to maintain some kind of modesty.'

The students gathered at various spots - including the Grantchester Meadows and the university's archaeology museum - to take the racy snaps this summer.

They did a 'dry run' in clothes to practice their poses before stripping off for their nude photoshoots, which lasted around 15 minutes.

They also had made sure they appropriate permission.

Andrew said they were careful not to cause offence with their nudity - even though they did get caught a few times by red-faced dog walkers.

He said: 'The window of opportunity to take the photos was relatively short.

'We were a little anxious about being outside because we didn't want to cause any offence.

'We had a few runners and dog walkers come by - some didn't know where to look.'

The annual Cambridge Blues Naked Calendar will go on sale later this month.

Cambridge University's Raising and Giving society says any proceeds will go to four charities: Jimmy's Cambridge, Teenage Cancer Trust, Student Minds and Rainforest Trust.
