What’s wrong with nuts? Greedy squirrel is spotted carrying an ENTIRE sesame seed bagel up a tree

This is the moment a greedy squirrel carried an entire sesame seed bagel up a tree.

The footage was captured by David Freiheit on November 7 while he was walking his dog on Boulevard Robert-Bourassa in Montreal, Canada.

In an effort that rivals New York’s fast food-chomping rats, the rodent tightropes along a power cable with the bagel in its mouth. This is the moment a greedy squirrel carried an entire sesame seed bagel up a tree on Boulevard Robert-Bourassa in Montréal, Canada

The video starts as Mr Freiheit spots a grey squirrel high up in a tree and shouts: 'Right there - that squirrel has an entire bagel in its mouth.'

The squirrel is munching on the bagel, but drops it out of the tree to the road below.

However the cunning squirrel was not going to pass up on lunch quite so easily.

The video shows David Freiheit notice a grey squirrel high up on the branch of a tree as he shouts 'right there - that squirrel has an entire bagel in its mouth'

After Mr Freiheit backs away with his dog on a lead, the squirrel proceeds to make its way down a utility pole and recover the bagel.

It then clambers up another tree with the bagel in its mouth, before walking along a power cable using its tail for balance as Mr Freiheit says: 'There's no cream cheese or lox on that thing.'

Mr Freiheit said: 'I’ve lived in Montreal my entire life. Never seen this before.'

'At least the squirrel has good culinary preferences, although I would prefer poppyseed,' he added.

And Canadian squirrels aren't the only rodents enjoying the finer things in life.

In September 2015, New Yorkers were amazed when footage emerged of a rat carrying an entire large slice of pizza down the steps of a subway station.

Despite the slice being bigger than it, the rat managed to drag it down several stairs before it was forced to admit defeat.

The video clip of its valiant effort went viral.

The first rodent to take social media by storm for its larger than life appetite was Pizza Rat. In September 2015, New Yorkers were amazed when footage emerged of it carrying an entire large slice of pizza down the steps of a subway station
