When football ruins romance! Hilarious footage shows disaster striking as a Houston Dynamo fan proposes to his partner in the stands in MLS clash with LA Galaxy... just as his side concede a third goal in a 3-0 defeat!

A Houston Dynamo fan picked an awkward time to propose to his partner during their MLS clash against LA Galaxy after being forced to watch his side concede.

In what would likely have been the best moment of his life, the supporter was filmed getting engaged to his girlfriend, before disaster struck just seconds later.

The hilarious footage of the moment quickly panned across to the action on the field, with Kevin Cabral firing coolly into the corner to spark mixed emotions.

At the start of the video, which has been posted on Twitter, it is revealed that a number of other fans held up signs for the proposal in a heart-warming touch.

After agreeing to get married, the couple were treated to a warm reception from other fans seated around them, and then shared an embrace.

Following that, however, the bitter side of football struck - with the supporters then turning back to the pitch just as Cabral smartly jinked past a challenge to score.

To make matters worse, the forward then chose to celebrate in the same corner of the ground as the proposal, although the fans chose to focus on the comical side.

The newly engaged couple are then filmed once again at the end of the clip, clearly still ecstatic over their engagement despite the manner of their side's defeat.

A Zarek Valentin own goal and two goals from Cabral sealed the result, and the visitors were able to open the scoring first despite several chances at both ends.

Veteran defender Maynor Figueroa, formerly of Wigan and Hull City, was guilty of overcommitting with a challenge inside the box, and gave away a penalty.

The referee was quick to point to the spot, and Sacha Kljestan then converted.

Two goals either side of half-time then settled the tie. Valentin, stretching to cut out a low cross, inadvertently tucked the ball into his own net in first-half stoppage time.

Houston, in search of a response after the interval, then conceded a third just a couple of minutes before the restart, with Cabral bursting away to score the third.

In the process, Greg Vanney earned his 100th regular-season victory as a MLS boss.
