What to do in Ibiza when the clubs are closed: From designer shopping to wellness retreats, FEMAIL reveals why there's so much more to the island than partying - plus a DJ's guide to the best places to eat

When you think of Ibiza, you no doubt think of the unbeatable nightlife.

Super clubs are dotted across the island and have been a huge draw for revellers for decades.

And while there has always been a popular off-season, the last couple of years have really allowed the White Isle to show off its many other sides, while the clubs have been unable to open due to the pandemic.

In fact, some Ibizan concierge services say they've had the busiest summer yet as a more grown-up crowd has been taking up residence, enjoying all the other things Ibiza has to offer.

This magical island and the mystical ley lines that run beneath it, provide a dreamy backdrop for those looking to invest in their wellbeing, or hoping to have a spiritual reawakening, while others are inspired by its hippy heritage to create beautiful clothes and homewares.

Not to mention the huge range of incredible restaurants that alone are worth the flight!

And of course, with beautiful sunny days, stunning beaches and breathtaking scenery, there's always something to enjoy in Ibiza, whether the clubs are open or not.

Here's our guide to some of the best things to do and see whether you're considering a last minute winter break or a springtime getaway next year.

Party at a beach club

The clubs may be closed but you can still experience the music of Ibiza and a party vibe at one of the island's stunning beach clubs, all while soaking up the sun and taking in the view!

Blue Marlin

Spending a day at Blue Marlin will give you the best of both worlds - the music and vibe of a club, but in the sun!

Spending a day at Blue Marlin will give you the best of both worlds - the music and vibe of a club, but in the sun!

Blue Marlin is an Ibizan legend.

Located in the lovely Cala Jondal Bay, this high end beach club has been the go-to for stylish islanders ever since it opened.

It's not only a great place to relax and spend the day, but is brilliant for people watching too.

We suggest arriving around midday to enjoy a long languorous lunch in the shade. From Wagyu beef to sushi and fresh seafood to deliciously dressed salads, the menu has something for everyone and combined with the idyllic setting, it's the kind of experience you'll talk about for the rest of your stay.

After lunch move to one of the large and comfy day beds where you can soak up the atmosphere while sipping cocktails or a glass of crisp rosé. Take a dip in the sparkling (and insanely warm) crystal clear waters, while a DJ provides the perfect soundtrack.

And with strict covid-19 procedures in place, a day at Blue Marlin is the perfect way to experience the music that made Ibiza famous, without stepping foot inside a superclub.

The superclubs might be closed, but this year has seen more and more visitors to Ibiza, creating their own mini-clubs in the comfort of their villas.

So simply book some decks and speakers, clear a space in the villa for the dance floor and organise your own superstar DJ line-up.

DJ Neev's favourite places to eat in Ibiza!

DJ Neev has been a regular in Ibiza since her teens, going from dancing in the superclubs to DJing for crowds of thousands in the superclubs!

So it's fair to say she knows the White Isle pretty well.

We asked her to share her insider tips for the best places to grab a bite in Ibiza.

Villa Mercedes

"What I love most about this restaurant is its stunning location. Overlooking the marina in San Antonio, Villa Mercedes is a great place to people watch (and boat watch) as the sun sets!

"The garden and terrace are also so pretty and super romantic so it makes a lovely spot for an intimate candlelit dinner for two, as well as for larger groups. I love sitting out under the stars, sipping on a cocktail (Javier's Margarita is my drink of choice!) just enjoying the ambience and live music.

"And I haven't even mentioned the food yet!

"From octopus to whole seabass and fillet steak, it's a dreamy Mediterranean menu. I can't wait to go back!

"Villa Mercedes is owned by the Mambo group, who have long had a presence on the island, so they really know how to give you a warm welcome and a fantastic time!"

IT Ibiza

IT Ibiza is a lovely spot for a really special meal

IT Ibiza is a lovely spot for a really special meal

"I recently celebrated my birthday in Ibiza and we chose IT Ibiza for my celebratory meal.

"With a menu inspired by the flavours of southern Italy, IT is all crisp white linen and smartly dressed waiting staff, so it has a sleek and sophisticated feel.

"And being in Marina Botafoch, it not only has gorgeous views, but is only a short walk from the centre of Ibiza Town too.

"I opted for some insanely good calamari but had been sorely tempted by the pasta literally drenched in truffle. That's the only problem - deciding what to have!

"The cocktails were also amazing and while IT creates a refined dining experience, it's not at all stuffy. The staff couldn't  be more friendly or helpful and the female DJ was really cool. And I should know!

"Oh and the good news is there's now an IT restaurant in London's Mayfair too so we can keep the Ibizan vibes going all year!"

"I might be biased because my friend Jessie runs this wonderful restaurant, but I genuinely can not recommend Tapas Ibiza enough.

"This is a true hidden gem and is one of those places that's a real favourite among the locals, as well as with holidaymakers.

"Sharing a few small plates with friends and family in the peaceful garden here is just such a lovely way to spend an evening.

"And the tapas really is the best on the island in my opinion. There's a large range of dishes on the menu with traditional Spanish tapas alongside more exotic plates, so you're sure to find something to tempt you.

"Tapas Ibiza is relaxed, informal and one of my favourite spots to take it easy in Ibiza!"
