The terrifying moment a huge ferris wheel collapses while being built in Chinese city - but miraculously NO ONE is hurt

 A Ferris wheel collapsed while being built in a Chinese city on Monday afternoon.

The amusement ride was under construction in Fuzhou City next to Jin'an Lake, East China's Fujian Province and the collapse occurred at around 2.40pm.

The shocking moment was captured at several angles and although there were no casualties, one person was trapped on the hub of the Ferris wheel.

An onsite staffer, with the surname Lian, said the cause of the collapse was steel parts falling off during the wheel's assembly. 

The area has been cordoned off with boom lines and closed to local residents, the Global Times reported.

During a live TV broadcast, local residents said they heard the sound of the falling Ferris wheel at different times - one at 2.40pm and another after 3pm.Construction began in April this year and its height was set to be 120 meters, making it the highest Ferris Wheel in the Fujian Province

The Ferris wheel was allegedly being constructed by Longfor Properties, based in Beijing.

Longfor Properties refused to comment on the incident on Monday afternoon. 

One local resident surnamed Huang said the Ferris wheel was almost completed and another surnamed Zhao said the ride was part of a wider government project and the nearby shopping centre.
