Netflix have released its first trailer for the controversial musical, named 'Diana: A New Musical', which features a fictitious scene where the Queen labels her a 'tart'.
Filmed in 2020 at Broadway’s Longacre Theatre, Diana stars British actress Jeanna de Waal in the title role and explores her glamour and charity work and the slow public crumbling of her relationship with Prince Charles.
With a release date of October 1 on the streaming service, scenes in the trailer show the late royal kissing Prince Charles, played by Roe Hartrampf, meeting the Queen, played by Judy Kaye, and introducing a baby Prince William to the world.
However the show's script has been deemed controversial, with lines including the Queen saying to Diana: 'In the old days we would have chopped off your head,' while another scene sees Diana in bed with James Hewitt.

Scenes in the trailer include Charles passionately kissing Camilla, while in another moment the heir to the throne is shown reading a newspaper with the headline: 'Diana driven to five suicide bids by Charles.'
Meanwhile another shot shows Diana triumphantly looking out into the audience while wearing her famous black revenge dress in 1994.The soundtrack to the trailer is the song 'If', which features the lyrics: 'If Charles steps aside, And lets my William reign, Then all the suffering, Will not have been in vain.'
In the song, Jeanna sings: 'I offer my goodbyes without compromise, a princess moving on. Beyond the palace staffs, beyond the photographs, a fairy tale come and gone.'

The musical began previews in March 2020 but never officially made its debut on Broadway due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The cast and crew reunited in an empty theatre last year to perform the musical for cameras and put the finished product on the digital platform for broadcast in October, before the show welcomes a live audience again.
'We speak for the entire company when we say that we couldn't be more excited to finally be able to share our show with theatre lovers everywhere,' the show's producers said in a statement last year.
Diana is advertised as the tragic and yet inspiring story of a young woman learning to break free of the confines of the British royal family.
However the show's script has been deemed controversial, with lines including the Queen, played by Judy Kaye, saying to Diana: 'In the old days we would have chopped off your head'
It has songs by Bon Jovi keyboardist David Bryan and a story by playwright Joe DiPietro.
The pair also collaborated on the Tony-winning Memphis.
The musical also features topics including the breakdown of Diana's marriage to Prince Charles, with swathes of vulgar dialogue and scenes of fiction, reports The Sun.
Diana is also shown to self-harm after Charles moans about 'another boy' when Harry is born, the paper says.

After news of the release emerged, a former bodyguard of the late princess called on Prince Harry to get the musical pulled from the streaming service.
Ken Wharfe, 72, Diana's former bodyguard, The Sun: 'The Diana musical, soon to be premiered on Netflix, presents a huge dilemma to them both.
'If the critics are to be believed, this musical story is not a joyous journey of love with a happy ending but an episodic account of untruths, scandal and sex.
'He now has the chance, irrespective of his lucrative deal with Netflix, to stand alone from his wife and make clear his abhorrence of such a musical and call Netflix to account.'
In an unconventional step, the musical is set to skip Broadway and go straight on to Netflix.
The trailer was released days after the first teaser Spencer was shared online, with fans hearing star Kristen Stewart's take on Princess Diana's accent for the first time.
Stewart utters just two words in the short preview, responding: 'They don't,' to Sally Hawkins' character - so far undisclosed - after she tells Diana: 'They know everything,' when referring to the press.
Set in 1991 and set for release on November 5, the emotional clip - just over one minute in length - sees 31-year-old Stewart roaming the grounds of Sandringham Estate at Christmas time as her marriage to Prince Charles breaks down in the wake of divorce and infidelity rumours.
Some scenes show the family posing for their annual Christmas portrait, while others see Stewart's Diana being hounded by paparazzi, collapsed in bed and sprinting through the estate's grounds wearing a yellow dress.
A particularly emotional moment in the much-anticipated trailer shows Diana breaking down in tears, while actor Jack Farthing is seen in character as Prince Charles.
The film's logline reads: 'The marriage of Princess Diana and Prince Charles has long since grown cold. Though rumours of affairs and a divorce abound, peace is ordained for the Christmas festivities at the Queen's Sandringham Estate.
'There's eating and drinking, shooting and hunting. Diana knows the game. But this year, things will be profoundly different. Spencer is an imagining of what might have happened during those few fateful days.'
Kristen perfectly embodied Princess Diana in the latest glimpse of the royal biopic Spencer, released on Wednesday.
In a new promotional shot for the film the Twilight actress is seen crumpled on the floor while clad in a voluminous white ball gown.
The harrowing image was tweeted by the production company with the caption: 'Every fairy tale ends.'
