Talk about nerves of steel! Conor McGregor launches a flying head kick towards a guard in the octagon ahead of trilogy bout with Dustin Poirier at UFC 264... but the fearless member of security doesn't even flinch!

McGregor had made his way into the octagon first ahead of the trilogy showdown at the weekend, and spent his time waiting for Poirier to join him there by pulling off a few warm-up exercises and stretches.
He then quickly looked to turn his attention to the guard, who was standing a matter of feet away from him, and came close to making contact after stepping forwards and unleashing one of his signature kicks.

McGregor pulled away at the last second, however, and pointed at the member of security as if to prove he had been joking. But little did 'Notorious' know, the brave guard had remained frozen to the spot and didn't react. After a horror leg break in the first round at UFC 264, McGregor was made to suffer another defeat to Poirier - although he had been trailing comprehensively on all three scorecards at the time.
He has been found in good spirits after undergoing an operation and being released from hospital, and even insisted recently that his leg had multiple stress fractures before he took on Poirier.

Now expected to be ruled out for a year, McGregor has spent the first days of his recovery cruising around on a scooter in California and informing his supporters that he's been fitted with an 'unbreakable titanium leg'.
'I'm motivated to go and do this, the leg is going to be better than ever,' he said during a lengthy video on Instagram.
'I was injured going into the fight, people are asking me, "at what point did the leg break?" Ask Dana White, ask the UFC, ask Dr Davidson, the head doctor at the UFC, they knew my leg had a stress fracture going into that.
'They were debating pulling the thing because I was sparring with no shin pads and I kicked a knee a few times.
McGregor has been in good spirits when updating his fans following his release from hospital'So I had multiple stress fractures in the shin bone above the ankle. And then I have trouble in my ankle anyways throughout the years through fighting all the time.
'Also I was wrapping my ankle every training session. When the ankle was sore I still wouldn't stop training - I used to just train on my back.
'And that's how I developed those ground shots from the back, that's why Dustin backed away when he was on top of me. And I was landing the up-kicks and the elbows, it's a horrible place to be in.
'It was a skill I developed because I had the damaged leg and had to adapt my training... I needed to get treatment on the ankle and shin-bone and I would never have committed to going under the knife unless something like this happened.

McGregor lay slumped against the cage after his defeat but has vowed to come back stronger
'What I needed was a titanium shin bone and now I've got a titanium rod from the knee to the ankle, the doctor says it's unbreakable.
'Once I keep building back, playing with the balance, then build the strength - and I have an unbreakable titanium leg.
'I'm like Arnie (Arnold Schwarzenegger) in Terminator 2! I've got all the tools to do this and I'm going to do it - what a story it's going to be. Love you all guys, you won't stop us! You won't beat the Irish, you won't beat the MacMan!'
McGregor accused Poirier of having won 'illegitimately' during his first video taken from his hospital bed, with his opponent quickly crowned as the victor following the doctor stoppage in Las Vegas.
