Photographer and guide Janet Kleyn, 53, captured the elephant's fall at the Mashatu Game Reserve in Botswana.
Footage shows the calf rolling around in the mud as it apparently found it difficult to regain its composure following a fall.
Ms Kleyn said: 'The herd was at the waterhole and the baby was still too young to know how to use his trunk.'

Eventually, as the other elephants make to move away, the calf manages to clamber onto its feet.
Mashatu Game Reserve is inside the Northern Tuli Game Reserve of Botswana which is between the Tuli Safari Area, a national park in Zimbabwe, and the Mapungubwe National Park, a World Heritage Site in South Africa.
