Richard shared an image of his chic white and black bathroom, featuring black metal detailing and a roll top tub with antique feet.

The monochrome look was complete with a white ceramic tub and sink, while a stainless steel towel rail had been mounted on the wall.

The presenter's second snap captured his home's wooden parquet flooring in full glory as the camera ventured into the living space.

It also gave a peek at the huge bay windows with the seat and lower wall painted a duck egg blue, to contrast to the white walls and door.

Lastly, Richard captured a snap of a rather well-worn penguin ornament standing next to some cleaning products.

He wrote: "Penguin waiting expectantly," in the caption alongside the pic, which also showed some stylish dog-print wallpaper.

Richard's mini house tour came two years after The Sun exclusively revealed he had put pen to paper on a whopping £1.1million debut book deal.

The dad-of-two had sold a crime novel he wrote in secret, telling only his closest friends about the project.

The Thursday Murder Club, about four pensioners who meet weekly to solve cold cases, was so highly sought-after that ten publishers got into a fierce bidding war before Viking, part of the Penguin group, was successful.

Richard, who found fame as a co-host of the BBC1 show with Alexander Armstrong had worked on the novel for 18 months.

His earnings shot up as the rights have also sold for six figures in America and Germany and deals have been landed in Holland, France and Italy.

His agent Juliet Mushens said of the novel: “I knew that it would be warm and witty.
