What did fans say about Martin Compston's accent?

Martin revealed he feels like a "wee smart a***" putting on a London accent for his role in Line of Duty.

Compston is often questioned by fans why he didn't get to keep his Scottish brogue for the part.

But the 36-year-old said it was his decision to fully commit for the job and take on the London accent.

Speaking ahead of the sixth series airing - during a promo for Johnnie Walker Princes Street - he said: "It’s a funny one because a lot of people always ask ‘why isn’t Steve just Scottish?’.

"It was never a discussion. Like, the brief came through for a London detective and I went into the audition and did a London accent, as is my job as an actor, and got the part.

"It’s tough in that it’s an extra layer of work you have to do and also the dialogue in Line of Duty on its own is so intense and kind of so obscure that would be challenging.

"Throw an accent in there as well, it can be rough at times especially in those massively long scenes and you’re trying to just remember those lines and hold this accent at the same time.
