Ilhan Omar, Other Leftists, Distract From Capitol Attack By Focusing On Gun Control And Racism
Later that day, the U.S. Capitol Police department announced in a brief statement that one of the two officers hurt in the attack, Billy Evans, passed away from his injuries.
Soon after, it was reported that “The deceased assailant who rammed two U.S. Capitol Police officers Friday and emerged from his car wielding a knife before police shot him has been identified as Noah Green, 25, an African American man who believed Louis Farrakhan is an incarnation of Jesus Christ.”
While some verified Twitter users rushed to assume that the suspect was “white” or a “Trump insurrectionist,” it became clear that this narrative was being falsely promoted as soon as Green’s identity was revealed by police.
In response, several high-profile figures pivoted, rebranding Green’s attack on U.S. Capitol Police officers in support of other political positions, such as gun control or the existence of alleged systemic racism.“Heartbroken to learn another CP was killed while protecting the Capitol,” tweeted Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN). “My thoughts and prayers go out to the officer’s family and the entire Capitol Police force.”
“The death toll would have been worse if the assailant had an AR-15 instead of a knife,” she added.
Talbert Swan tweeted, “I see the white supremacists are overjoyed to report that the suspect in the Capitol incident was a Black man, Noah Green.”
“Green, allegedly armed with a knife, was shot dead,” he continued, “By contrast, Robert Aaron Long, the Atlanta spa murderer, was armed with an AR 15. He’s alive and well.”
This wasn’t the first controversial tweet of the day from Swan. He also tweeted earlier that day, “As soon as we heard the suspect in the Capitol attack was shot dead by police, we knew he wasn’t white.”
Finally, Swan added, “What’s the difference between the Black man suspected of attacking the Capitol on April 2 and the…white man who killed 10 people in Boulder CO … white man who killed Asians on March 16, and white insurrectionists who stormed the Capitol on January 6? The Black man is DEAD.”
It should be noted that the Boulder, Colorado shooter was of Syrian descent.
MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan tweeted, “Imagine if today’s Capitol attacker had gotten out of his car not with a knife but with an AR-15. Imagine the police death toll. Just imagine.” His tweet concluded with “#guncontrol.”
Tariq Nasheed tweeted, “All the white supremacists are now trying to falsely tie in Noah Green to the Nation of Islam (he wasn’t a member..The media is just using the ‘Im white and I say so’ defense) and blame Louis Farrakhan for the incident at the US capitol as a way to deflect from the Capitol Riots.”
