Two-year-old pup Prancer took social media by storm earlier this month when his exhausted foster carer, Tyfanee Fortuna, from New Jersey, posted a brutally-honest rant about his many negative traits, while desperately trying to find him a full-time owner.
Explaining that she had been trying for several months to try and make the pooch sound in any way 'palatable', Tyfanee admitted that she had all but given up hope of re-homing Prancer, whom she accused of 'creating a demonic Chihuahua hellscape' in her family's home.
But even after his most unappealing qualities were laid bare in Tyfanee's viral Facebook post, the 'neurotic' dog has achieved what some thought would be impossible: an owner who is actually willing to put up with his many difficult personality traits.

Tyfanee shared the happy news of Prancer's adoption in a Facebook update on Monday afternoon, when she expressed her sheer relief at finally being free from the 'demon' dog, describing his adoption as the 'one of the best days of her life'.
'Time flies when you’re having fun,' she started the post. 'Time also flies when the Chihuahua who held your family hostage for 6 months finally gets adopted.
'Prancer is almost a distant nightmare to me now, even though he was adopted just over a week ago. His adoption day was one of the best days of my life. On the flip side, I couldn’t help but feel a bit wrong....it was like expelling myself of a demon and passing it on to someone else.'
Tyfanee continued: 'I justify it by knowing it was a consensual exchange, and I couldn’t have made the terms and conditions anymore clear. It also helps that his new victim is madly in love with him (or she has Stockholm syndrome already).'
She concluded her post: 'In closing, we do miss Prancer and he was loved here despite his quirks. I have a lot of experience with toxic men, so it was easy for me to overlook his malicious tendencies and love him anyway. However, being relieved of the constant haunting of a Victorian child has me sleeping easier.'
Luckily, Prancer's owner - Ariel Davis, 36, from Connecticut - seems perfectly well-equipped to deal with his difficult behaviors. In an interview with Today, she explained that the Chihuahua actually reminded her of a past pet, and she therefore felt that she'd be more than capable of handling the tricky pooch.
'I had a dog that I adopted probably about seven years ago and I raised him from a puppy and he was a Chihuahua/Jack Russel Terrier mix,' she told the outlet.
'He had a lot of the same qualities as Prancer: he was a little neurotic and he barked a lot and he didn’t work well with other people and other animals. I spent a lot of time working with him and understanding his personality and learning about myself through him.'

Settling in: Ariel is now documenting Prancer's journey on Instagram, and she revealed that the pup is slowly getting used to his new home
Ariel went on to explain that she had to give up her old dog, Doodle, when she went to rehab for marijuana addiction a few years ago. She spent two years in the rehab facility - where she now works - and has since reached a stage where she feels she is 'stable enough' to have dogs once again.
Enter Prancer.
Like many, Ariel first heard about the pup when she read about Tyfanee's viral Facebook post, but unlike those who were horrified by what they read, she was intrigued by Prancer's unique personality.
As a 'single woman' and a 'single lesbian' who 'doesn't have any men in her life', the dog lover felt that she met all of the criteria for a potential owner, and so she emailed the Second Chance Pet Adoption League to inquire about adoption.
'Reading about Prancer brought back intense memories of the dog I still love so much,' she said to the organization via email. 'They were very similar in demeanor and looking into Prancer's eyes in those pictures I saw the little s**t Doodle I love so much (I say this lovingly!)…
'I am not looking to replace Doodle, but I am looking for a companion that I can take proper care of and give a loving home.'
Ariel traveled from New Haven to meet Prancer and said that she instantly bonded with the tricky pooch. The dog went home with her that same day, and has been living with her for the past week.
'He is a small, neurotic dog and it’s been hard coming from a chaotic home,' Ariel said of how Prancer has been settling in to his new home.

'The first day he was adjusting, he just hung out and gathered his bearings... We’re one week into the adoption and he’s really changed my life, too. We’re both adjusting.'
Ariel has been documenting Prancer's early days in his new home on Instagram - where the viral pup has racked up more than 13,000 followers in just a matter days, although that pales in comparison to the 73,000 shares Tyfanee's adoption posting currently has on Facebook.
In that post, Tyfanee made no attempts to hide her dislike of Prancer's many unpalatable personality traits, explaining that he was a 'neurotic mess' and joking that he may well be possessed by an evil spirit.
'Ok, I’ve tried. I’ve tried for the last several months to post this dog for adoption and make him sound...palatable. The problem is, he’s just not,' Tyfanee started. 'Every day we live in the grips of the demonic Chihuahua hellscape he has created in our home...
'If you’re intrigued and horrified at how this animal sounds already, just wait....there’s more.'
Tyfanee then went into more details about Prancer and how he had 'adapted' to his life in her home.
'Prancer came to me obese, wearing a cashmere sweater, with a bacon egg n cheese stuffed in his crate with him. I should have known in that moment this dog would be a problem,' she wrote.
'He was owned by an elderly woman who treated him like a human and never socialized him. Sprinkle in a little genetic predisposition for being nervous, and you’ve concocted a neurotic mess, AKA Prancer,' she added.
She said that during his first week at her house, Prancer was 'too terrified to have a personality' and laid silent, but turned out to be a force to be reckoned with.
The foster mom said the pup was best-suited to live with a single woman, a mother-daughter duo or a lesbian couple
In the hilarious post, Tyfanee called Prancer a '13lb rage machine,' and said he hard turned her home into a 'Chihuahua hellscape'
'I am convinced at this point he is not a real dog, but more like a vessel for a traumatized Victorian child that now haunts our home,' Tyfanee said.
She went on to say Prancer hated men and could only live with women.
'He hates men more than women do, which says a lot. If you have a husband don’t bother applying, unless you hate him,' she said.
He bonds to a woman/women, and takes his job of protection seriously. He offers better protection than capitol security,' she added.
And on top of hating men, Tyfanee revealed the pup also hated other animals.
'Have other dogs? Cats? Don’t apply unless they like being shaken up like a ragdoll by a 13lb rage machine,' she wrote.
While Prancer was currently living with Tyfanee's other seven dogs and 12 cats, she said he was still begrudgingly merely co-existing with them and was not enjoying it.
She added Prancer couldn't live with children either, even though he had never been in the presence of a child.
'I can already imagine the demonic noises and shaking fury that would erupt from his body if he was. Prancer wants to be your only child,' she said.
But in spite of this list of particular behaviors, Tyfanee also said Prancer had some 'good traits.'
Many people said Prancer was their 'dream dog' and some said they wished he'd got to them after Tyfanee's post went viral

'He is loyal beyond belief, although to tell you a secret his complex is really just a facade for his fear,' she wrote.
'If someone tried to kill you I can guarantee he would run away screeching. But as far as companionship, you will never be alone again,' she added.
She went on to say Prancer liked car rides and was house trained, as well as knew basic commands.
She added he wouldn't wreak havoc on their owner's home when they were out and added he was 'cute to look at' even though her family called him 'bologna face.'
'His ideal home would be with a single woman, a mother and daughter, or a lesbian couple,' she said.
Tyfanee added that the pup couldn't live in an apartment because he would 'ankle bite' neighbors and added he'd have to be kept in a separate rooms if you had people over.
'I know finding someone who wants a chucky doll in a dogs body is hard, but I have to try,' she said.
