What a dust-up! Binman empties woman's wheelie bin into the street outside her house after she complained about missed collections

  • The disgruntled council worker arrived at a property in Burdiehouse, Edinburgh
  • He emptied contents of general waste bin on to a grass verge in front of home
  • Worker since been moved to work on another route as investigation continuesA disgruntled binman showed up at a resident's house and tipped her rubbish out on to the street after she complained about a missed collection.

The unnamed woman was left fuming after the council worker arrived at her property in Burdiehouse, Edinburgh, and emptied the contents of her general waste bin on to a grass verge in front of her home.

The worker has since been moved to work on another route in the city and the council has said that they are conducting an investigation. In the clip, recorded on March 4, a heated discussion is already underway between the homeowner and the council worker. He appears to indicate that her bin was not collected as the waste was contaminated with items that should not have been in it - including a glass bottle.

But she furiously hits back and claims that he could not have known about the items before he tipped the bin on to the verge.

She says: 'You never emptied my bin this morning. You've just emptied the whole bin [now] to find this because that was in the bottom of my bin.

The council worker replies: 'It still shouldn't be there.'

But the woman continues: 'It was at the bottom of the bin you would have never known it was there.'

The man claims: 'It wasn't at the bottom it was in the middle.'

But the woman hits back: 'I just watched you physically have to empty my whole bin on the floor to find three things. That's an absolute joke.'

Responding to his claims that she has been 'putting his job at risk', she continues: 'This is about the fifth time that you have taken everyone else's bin but not mine.'

The dispute continues until the woman begins to walk back up the path toward her front door. But the council worker seems to follow directly behind her before what appears to be a brief tussle ensues.

The woman swears before repeating that 'this is all on camera' as the binman takes his own phone out and starts filming over the hedge.

The resident's father has since contacted Edinburgh Live to say that his daughter has been left in fear following the encounter.

He said the incident occurred after she submitted a complaint about missed waste collections at her property.

He said: 'She's had a problem with the binman for around 18 months now. Mainly about her bin not being emptied. She's put in constant complaints.

'On the day this happened her bin was missed again and she went on to the web to complain. They were then told over radio to go back and get it.'

The father added that it was not until later in the day that the worker showed up at the house.

'When he got there he started shouting and bawling. He tipped her bin out in the middle of the road.

'This was later on, and he showed up without the truck or anything,' he said.

'There's no way he could've known that glass bottle was in there without emptying it out. It was down at the bottom of the bin, so that can't be the reason [it wasn't emptied initially]. He seems to have a vendetta.

'My daughter is a nice lassie. She's well-liked, but she's been left pretty scared because of this. She's genuinely worried. One of her brothers has to go and stay with her the night before bins. It's that bad.'

He added: 'She doesn't like the limelight or anything, but she put a complaint into the council and they've just moved him to another run elsewhere. I want the council to stand up and take notice of what has happened here.'

The City of Edinburgh Council said that they are aware of the incident and are conducting an investigation.

A spokesperson said: 'We're aware of the complaint and the footage and we've been in touch with the resident directly. As this relates to an ongoing investigation, it wouldn't be appropriate to comment further.'
