The mystery illness has swept through the state-run Government Girls College in Sokoto - leaving one pupil dead and over 30 hospitalised according to local media.

The mystery illness has swept through the state-run Government Girls College in Sokoto - leaving one pupil dead and over 30 hospitalised according to local mediaDirector of Public Health in Sokoto Ahmed Abdulrahman told TVCNews that over thirty students were admitted to a local hospital as a result of the outbreak.
He did not reveal any details about the girl who died, but said health officials have taken samples from the ill students to investigate the nature of the disease.
The Commissioner of Science and Technology Dr Julu Haruna, whose minitry oversees the boarding school, said the state government has sent ten medical doctors to the school.
'The situation was brought under control due to the quick intervention of the state government,' Dr Haruna told TNG.
Director of Public Health in Sokoto Ahmed Abdulrahman said that over thirty students (pictured at their boarding school) were later admitted to a local hospital as a result of the outbreak
'All the infected students have been isolated to curtail the spread of the disease.'
Mr Abdulrahman called for calm and said the heath ministry have launched an investigation into the illness.
The mystery disease comes as three people died and 284 people were hospitalised after drinking expired fruit drinks in Nigeria.
The outbreak spread across eight towns near the northwestern city of Kano, officials said last Tuesday.
The Kano State commissioner for health, Dr Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa, told Anadolu Agency the incident occurred when patients drank expired citric acid powdered drinks.
The outbreak affected 284 people, he said, with 183 patients currently receiving treatment at hospital and 101 discharged from hospitals.
