Kate Middleton is 'mortified' by claims that she made Meghan Markle cry during row over bridesmaids dresses because she's 'very careful with how she treats others' so as not to spark feud rumours, royal expert claims

  Katie Nicholl noted how you 'never hear' about the Duchess of Cambridge, 38, falling out with anyone because she is 'very careful with how she treats others.'  

  Previously, it was believed it was Meghan who had made Kate cry during a row over bridesmaids' dresses.But during the bombshell broadcast, Meghan said: 'She (Kate) was upset about something, but she owned it, and she apologised. And she brought me flowers'. 

  Speaking to OK! magazine, Katie Nicholl explained: 'Kate has never wanted any suggestion of a rift with Meghan to come out in the press, so for this story to be circulating is very hard.'

  Katie added there are 'different versions' of the story and claimed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle know Kate is 'not in a position to respond'. 

  'From what I hear, there are different versions of the bridesmaid story, not just the one Meghan discussed,' the royal expert told the publication.'Kate felt it was all sorted, so to have it brought up again was mortifying. Kate is not in a position to respond and Meghan and Harry know that.

  The royal expert went on to claim that Kate Middleton has been left 'saddened, disappointed and hurt' in the wake of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey.

  She added it has been a 'very hard' few days for the Duchess of Cambridge, 39, who stepped out with husband Prince William, 38, on Thursday during a visit to School2 in east London - their first engagement since the royal was accused by Meghan of making her cry. 

  'This has been a very hard few days for Kate, but she turned up and committed to her work and duty last week.'

  'People did notice that she appeared downcast and subdued. Behind closed doors she has been saddened, disappointed and hurt.'

  Row that 'made Meghan cry' 

  Reports circulated ahead of the Sussexes' nuptials that Meghan left Kate in tears at Princess Charlotte's bridesmaid dress fitting.

  But Meghan told Oprah the 'reverse happened'.

  Meghan said she was not sharing the information to be 'disparaging', but added it was 'really important for people to understand the truth'.

  'She's a good person,' the duchess added

   

  Wimbledon photos 'not as they seemed'

  Meghan also gave more details about her strained relationship with Kate.  

  She was asked about a memorable joint-outing to Wimbledon, where the pair put on a united front and were pictured laughing together.

  During the interview she appeared to cast doubt on the authenticity of that seemingly affable appearance, saying: 'Nothing is what it looks like'.

   

  'Waity Katie' jibe 'not the same as racism' 

  Meghan said her treatment by the press cannot be compared to Kate being called 'Waity Katie' because it is 'not the same as racism'. 

  The Duchess of Sussex said she believed she had been singled out because she was 'not just British'. She said: 'I think the volume of what was coming in and the interest was greater because of social media, because of the fact that I was not just British...

  'If they can compare what the experience that I went through was similar to what has been shared with us, Kate was called Waity Katie, waiting to marry William.

  'While I imagine that was hard, and I do, I can't picture what that felt like, this is not the same.'  

   

  Harry: 'Trapped' William and I 'on different paths'

  When asked about if he remains close to William he replied: 'I love William to bits. He's my brother. 

  'We've been through hell together. I mean, we have a shared experience. But we're on different paths'. 

  She continued that Prince William and Kate 'feel let down' after they were 'hugely welcoming' to Meghan and Harry - and added: 'Obviously, they still love Harry and Meghan, but this interview has ruffled feathers.'

  Katie's comments come just days after an impassioned Prince William publicly hit back against Harry and Meghan's racism claims, insisting, 'We're very much not a racist family'.

  The Duke of Cambridge was the first royal to personally respond to the allegation during his first royal engagement since the Oprah interview last Thursday, as he also revealed that he has not spoken to his brother since it came out, but added that he 'will do'.  

  During the Oprah interview, Meghan revealed details about her strained relationship with Kate Middleton, saying of pictures of them laughing at Wimbledon, 'Nothing is what it looks like.'

  She added that Kate being called 'waity Katie' in the press couldn't compare to the alleged racism she faced. 

  Meghan also made allegations that she felt suicidal and turned to the palace for help. 

  The Duchess of Sussex told Oprah she 'couldn't be left alone' and told her husband she 'didn't want to be alive anymore' before claiming the Buckingham Palace HR department ignored her plea for help because she wasn't a 'paid employee'.   

  Describing how she considered ending her life believing it 'was better for everyone', Meghan said: 

  'I knew that if I didn't say it, that I would do it. I just didn't want to be alive anymore. 

  'And that was a very clear and real and frightening constant thought. I remember how he just cradled me. I said that I needed to go somewhere to get help. 

  'I said that 'I've never felt this way before, and I need to go somewhere'. And I was told that I couldn't, that it wouldn't be good for the institution'.

  She said that after confiding in her husband, she was forced to go to the Royal Albert Hall for a charity event in January 2019, claiming photos from that night 'haunt me'. 

  She told Oprah she later reached out to one of the best friends of Diana, Princess of Wales, because she felt unsupported by the palace.

  She said: 'When I joined that family, that was the last time I saw my passport, my driving licence, my keys - all of that gets turned over'. 

  Meghan said Harry had 'saved my life' by agreeing to move to Los Angeles.

  During the broadcast, Prince Harry hinted at the extent of the alleged rift between the two brothers, claiming that their relationship was now 'space,' but added he hoped time would be a healer. 

  He went on to claim he was 'on different paths' to William and spoke about his brother was 'trapped' in the Royal Family.   

  Harry also said he felt 'very let down' by his father Prince Charles, accusing him of refusing to take his calls and and then 'cut him off' financially when they emigrated.

  He said: 'My father and brother. They're both trapped' and added that his mother Diana would be 'angry and sad' that he felt he had to leave the royal family, but 'she saw it coming'. 

  Harry said: 'All she'd ever want for us is to be happy', adding that his wife had 'saved me', declaring: 

  'I myself was trapped, as well. I didn't see a way out'. 

  The Queen broke her silence on the interview on Tuesday, voicing her 'concern' over the issues raised, 'particularly that of race', although the statement added that 'some recollections may vary'.
