Edith Riddle, 34, was arrested on the child abuse charge after the attack at Dupont Middle School in Jacksonville on March 18.
One witness told investigators Riddle was wearing a boxing glove when she arrived at the school.
Riddle allegedly told police the boxing glove was jued to her wrist and she couldn't remove it.
Cellphone footage appears to show Riddle - without the glove - repeatedly punching the child lying on the ground.
The video also shows an adult male stood nearby holding a pair of boxing gloves.
Police were alerted to the incident after a school safety officer heard a 'frantic' announcement from a teacher over the school's radio system about a fight outside the cafeteria.
The fight broke out after Riddle was leaving the school with her daughter after a meeting with the vice principal.

Witnesses told police that Riddle's daughter initially pushed the victim to the ground and hit her before Riddle allegedly got involved
According to an arrest report, a witness said Riddle was wearing the boxing glove on her left hand when she arrived at the school and she told officials she couldn't remove it because it was super glued to her wrist, KVUE reports.
Police said as Riddle and her daughter left the school, they walked out of their way through the cafeteria to engage the victim in a fight.
Witnesses told police that Riddle's daughter initially pushed the victim to the ground and hit her.
Riddle then allegedly also began punching the victim who was lying on the ground.
The student, who suffered abrasions to her knees and forearms in the fight, was taken to hospital by her parents for a follow-up evaluation.
The victim's parent told police they wanted to pursue criminal charges.
Riddle was arrested and charged with one count of child abuse with personal/special weapon.
