Cat on a hot train roof! Stubborn moggy refuses to budge from top of engine cab in Euston Station delaying service for nearly THREE HOURS... before jumping down and 'swaggering off'

- It took staff two and a half hours to get cat down to safety from overhead linesA stubborn cat caused delays of almost three hours as it lounged on the roof of a train at Euston station and stopped it leaving before 'swaggering off'.
The tabby was spotted on an Avanti West Coast train at London Euston sitting atop the 125mph Pendolino service at 8.30pm last night before it was due to leave for Manchester at 9pm.
Passengers were put on a replacement train as staff took the one the cat was on out of service to try and coax it down.

In total it took two and a half hours to coax the cat down to safety away from the 25,000 volt overhead lines which power trains.Eventually a bin was pulled up beside the carriages to give the cat its own special platform on which to disembark. But the feisty feline seemed unbothered by its dangerous standoff as it 'swaggered off' with the air of having somewhere else to be.
Social media users took to Twitter in their droves to joke about the incident. One wrote: 'Is he a member of Greenpeace?' to which another user replied: 'Greenpuss'.

Joe Hendry, Network Rail station manager for Euston, said: 'We often have to deal with birds inside the station but in all my time here this is the first train surfing cat!
'Thankfully curiosity didn't kill this cat and we're glad it avoided using up one of its nine lives thanks to the swift action of the station team and Avanti West Coast staff who organised for passengers to get onto a different train for the rescue to take place.'
Kathryn Pranga-Wells, lead station manager for Avanti West Coast, said: 'The things some pets do to avoid lockdown. Thankfully we managed to avoid a cat-astrophe but don't ask me-ow the cat got up there.'
It's not known how the frightened feline came to be on top of the high-speed train but staff have said it is now safe and well.
